Today's photo I have titled "An Unexpected Bonus" as I was over in the marshy area behind our local cemetery after work hoping to get some more Green-Winged Teal ducks, when I heard a commotion, when most of the ducks on the far side of the marsh started quacking hysterically
and the reason was a Red Fox was running past them and gave them all a very large scare.A tip for all people new to photoing wildlife is this one-pay attention to the birds especially for the sounds they make out of the ordinary as it usually means a predator of some sort is in the area. The fox in this shot didn't have any luck catching a duck this time around, however I have seen foxes do so when I didn't have a camera to make a capture. These days I almost always have my camera with me as you never know when an interesting photo opt might occur.A word about foxes this time of year they often hunt during the daylight hours as they really have no choice as the families usually have four kits and even more so food must be found. My aim this year is too try and get more variety in my photos of foxes and so far so good.I have included in the workshop two more photos from today's shoot.I have posted my photos today kind of late for me,so I must retire but I'll get back to you tomorrow for I want to see your photos and review them as well, thanks for stopping in.PP was done with Paint.Net. Bob

Hi Bob , great catch here , a really good photo of the fox , and again in a great natural setting.

I have a number of times at this pond heard / seen a commotion and thought maybe there was a predator , but never spotted one , perhaps I have missed a chance at this one too.

great find , nicely taken.

regards

Hallo Bob
Thanks for sharing this image "An unexpected bonus" and the story accompanying it.
I can only but agree with you, as it has happened so many times to Loot and I that we are looking at something in particular a different animal or bird will turn up out of the blue. I am sure you where very delighted that it happened here. Although it is not close by I can only admire that thick bushy tail of the fox. Even at a distance one can see its teeth. I like the way the one duck is looking towards the oncoming running fox, and I also like the movement you have captured of the one hind leg of the fox slightly in the air. Thanks for sharing. I liked this scenery.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Bob,
What a wonderful photo. The moment of the fox charging for the ducks is superb. Its amazing that the ducks saw the fox comming especially looking at its color and the color of the reets.
I do think that in your hurry to post this photo, you forgot to rotate the photo. The photo is tilted to the right.

Niek

Hello Bob,
Great scene well captured in a nice natural setting. Some great advice too, as one can learn much from sounds and body language of creatures. This a superb image Bob with great detail and colors. After looking at the workshop photos I have one question, do you have any great images of a Ruddy Duck I saw one in the workshop and these guys are just great to watch but I have yet to get a decent shot of one.
Rick

What a bonus! Notice how the fox blends in? I love that not only did you capture the fox, but also, it seems the ducks were suddenly aware he was there. This is a true photo of tension - what will happen next? I like the composition because your bonus added a sense of heightened drama for the ducks - and a true bonus for you. I'm turning a little green from envy here...

Hello Bob

Great capture.
This one has lots to see.
Very good composition and lovely vivid colours due to the lighting conditions.
My only nit is the horizon.
A lovely shot.
