[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
"Suffering Silently" is today's upload. It is not normal to ever see a grebe outside it's watery environment but that is just where I located this small Red necked Grebe. It appeared to be gagging on something while it was on shore and appeared to be suffering silently and all the while it was pulling up plant matter, maybe in a bid to move along a throat blockage but I'm not sure.My fear is that it may of swallowed a piece of plastic or old fishing lure crossed my mind but then it may of taken on a fish a little to large for it to swallow. It's mate was nearby in the water watching the two of us with guarded interest. When I found this bird was not moving away form me I slowly walked right up to it to see what the matter could be,I held out my hand and the little bird pecked at me,a hopeful sign but futile if a dog or fox were to happen by instead of me.This is not the way I want to get close to any wildlife, when they are distressed and at a disadvantage and even though the bird was not moving back into the water with any luck it will be alright given enough time.I have another view of this bird and it's mate in the water.Be kind to our wildlife friends and give them a safe and clean world to live in and do not pollute the water and land with garbage.I have taken a photo that illustrates all to well what the thoughtlessness of people throwing garbage into a marsh can do to wildlife and it is not pretty even though the innocent victim was but that is a story for another time.PP was done with Paint.Net.

Hello Bob,
Troubling image, but yet an excellent documentary when your notes go along. Nature will run its' course here and we are part of nature, but it is a sad statement on us if we had anything to do with this birds predicament. I always pick up fishing line that has been left by uninformed individuals, as I too have seen what happens to birds that get entangled. My conscience will not allow me to NOT pick up after these people for if I leave it I am just as guilty.

Hello Bob. Excellently closed on this bird. Pity that something stuck in the throat. The sharpness is excellent. Thanks for sharing and very well done. Regards. Jusni

hello Bob

reading your notes we see that those are thing of nature
(des choses qui font partie de la nature)

in 2006 on day i saw a old fishing lure on a gull beak,
last year in october, i heard a American Robin launching
his call, when i approached i saw he can not fly up,
i took it in my hands and trow it in the airs
and then i saw him fliying i was very happy

beautiful close shot of this grebe with wonderful details of his plumage,
