We have a few of these in our city swamp. They can move quick enough to challenge your autofocus. I'm always mistaking them for a beaver. Someone recently mistook one for a boa-contricter because of the way they surface and then dive again with a round crest on the surface. They're brave enough to swim right beside you to pass you.
