"ROYALTY".

"Royal Crown Crane".
Also known as "Grey Crowned Crane". Latin name: Balearica regulorum. Royalty.

Very little is known about this lovely bird. In Afrikaan it is called Mahem.

The Grey Crowned Crane has a height of 110 cms and weighs around 4100 gms. The head and the bill are coloured black. The Balearica regulorum has a red coloured throat, black legs and a grey coloured back. The eyes are blue. The male Balearica regulorum has physical features that are slightly different from the female bird. This bird forages for food on the ground. The Grey Crowned Crane is usually seen hunting for food within the tree foliage. This bird eats insects such as butterflies, bees, wasps, locusts and ants.

The Grey Crowned Crane is a monogamous bird which means that the bird finds and breeds with one partner for the rest of its life. The bird lays between 2 to 4 eggs and they are coloured blue. The Grey Crowned Crane is found in the Southern African wetlands, riverine forests and moist grasslands.
It's image is also embedded within this slidecast with a REAL African Melody called "Homeless".

These are such BEAUTIFUL species; enclosed. SO TRAGIC IS THEIR PLIGHT. The MARABOU Stork is here too. It's FLIGHT feathers torn off. Yes, TORN OFF.

Of course we are CRUEL to these beings; and, WHY NOT??? We are even CRUEL to each other; MAN AGAINST MAN. Just look around you.

You work so hard on your presentations!!!! The notes and extra things to do and see are always quite the trek on their own. A fine coloured bird Mario and saturated so nicely yes? Very fine presentation...a major master lesson!

This finely back-lighted individual really looks like a member of a royal family Aires, your low viewpoint shows the salient characteristics of this majestic bird among its natural environment. Good, saturated colors enhance this nice composition. TFS indeed!

Hi Mario, dear friend.
You have created a very natural, pleasant for look shot of a charming bird. Even strong sunlight gives some charm of the scene by highlights and deep shadows. I like rich colours of the image, excellent wide DOF and details of the entire scene as well as the composition at whole. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.
