hello, after not doing nature photography for 10 days,
yesterday afternoon i decide to go to take a walk and i had
the chance to see this Beaver and shoot it in photo

yesterday afternoon i was with my 5 megapixels
« point & shoot » Nikon with only 3X optical zoom,
it is the reason why it is not a close shot

the reason why i took my « point & shoot » Nikon is that
it does not have viewfinder like my Fujifilm digital cameras,
and my goal was to do practice shooting trough the LCD screen,
and i had the chance to do this beaver photo

From Hinterland Who's Who website : (i am thinking on you Bob lol)

http://www.hww.ca/hww2.asp?id=82

here is some text on the Beaver (Castor Canadensis) :

« This animal
• is a superb engineer: it builds impressive dams, canals, and lodges
• can see as well underwater as on land
• is ungainly and slow on land, but is graceful and strong in water
• has influenced the history of Canada more than any other animal

Very compact and rotund, the beaver is ungainly and
slow on land. Not so in the water. The beaver is a graceful,
strong swimmer, both under water and on the surface,
attaining speeds approaching 7 km per hour if it is alarmed.

he beaver’s body is adapted in many ways to
the animal’s watery habitat. The beady eyes see as
well in the water as out of it thanks to a specialized
transparent membrane that can be drawn over the eyes
for protection while diving. The nostrils are small and
can be closed for underwater swimming, as can the ears.

The beaver’s tail has important uses both in the water
and on land. The tail of a large beaver may be 30 cm long,
up to 18 cm wide, and 4 cm thick. It is covered with leathery
scales and sparse, coarse hairs. Although fat, the tail is flexible
and muscular. In the water, the animal can use its tail as
a four-way rudder. On land, the tail acts as a prop when
the beaver is sitting or standing upright. It also serves as a
counterbalance and support when the animal is walking
on its hind legs while carrying building materials like mud,
stones, or branches with its front paws. »

and i would like to finnish with « thank you for your kind words
for the recoverment (convalescence) of my older dog Celtick »

merci

Hi Asbed,

Very good capture of Beaver considering it was shot with a P&S camera. Good composition and sharp details.

Hi Asbed,

I always love your notes and the way you explain why you do what you do. This reminds me of a Monet painting with the wonderful colors. Very artistic picture of the little Beaver. Send my love to Celtick. I've missed you.

Jane

Asbed,

10 days without nature photography ? That is a long time for sure. Good to see you back at it though :)
I really appreciate your passion for nature. Each image that you present has a story behind it. I really wish that more people would care for nature as much as you do. It is really wonderful to see!
This image is no different. You've captured this beaver very nicely. I like the intense greens in your picture - you can really tell spring is finally here (after all the cold northern winds we have been having). TFS Asbed. Great work.
BTW, buy some good biscuits for Celtick from me!

Best Regards,

Martin

Salut Asbeg
Très belle présentation que tu nous envoies avec ce beau castor qui est entrein de vérifier son barrage.
Les détails et la couleurs sont de toutes beautés.
Merci et a bientôt...JP

Hello Asbed,
A good effort here to get the beaver...i have not come across one....infact i would also say th beaver is just one component of this composition. Look at the brilliant reflection of green, grey, yellow, brown and more in that water....and the movement of the beaver creating ripples....for in the process of presenting your much wnated beaver, you have also given us a really nice compsoition full of nature's hues.
TFS & Cheers

Bellissima cattura, la composizione per la miscellanea di colori, per i movimenti dell'acqua e per i riflessi fa pensare ad un quadro "impressionista". Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hello Asbed,

I give you points not for the beaver, which is difficult to see, but for the most wonderful water reflections. They are quite superb. What is not possible to see in the air, can be perfectly observed in the water! Very artistic!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
Many thanks for your warm comments on 'Collared dove resting'.

Hello Asbed,
The colours and composition remind me of an impressionist painting like the ones by Monet!
In the middle of this bright reflection of the colours of late spring there is the Beaver swimming across the water!
Nice one taken by a compact and a great splash of colour.
TFS and I hope Celtic is doing OK,
Ivan

The beaver is great but my favorite part of this photo is the way the colors play off the water. Its very artistic!

Hi Asbed,
I like the light that has filled your frame with the rippled watery reflections, nice colors there..
This beaver looks right at home :)
Well done & TFS,
Howard

Hallo Asbed
This week time is critical; however...............................This image is filled with such a display of colours that one cannot miss it, and of course the beaver playing hide and seek in the water makes this image quite special. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards.
Anna
