Here is a nervous White-crowned Sparrows (Zonotrichia leucophrys 16-19 cm) shot in the garden.
From Cornell:

Elegantly marked in gray, brown, black, and white, the White-crowned Sparrow is one of the best-studied songbirds in North America. Much of our knowledge of bird song and development is based on studies of this species.
Description
Large sparrow, small songbird.
Top of head with two broad black stripes, separated by a broad white crown stripe.
Eyebrow stripe white, bordered in front by black crown stripe.
Size: 15-16 cm (6-6 in)
Wingspan: 21-24 cm (8-9 in)
Weight: 25-28 g (0.88-0.99 ounces)
Sex Differences
Sexes alike in plumage, males slightly larger.
Sound
Song a series of clear whistles followed by buzzes or trills on different pitches.
Conservation Status
May be declining in some areas in western United States.
Other Names
Bruant à couronne blanche (French)
Zacatero mixto (Spanish)
Cool Facts
Four of the five subspecies of White-crowned Sparrows are migratory. The sedentary race lives in a very narrow band along the California coast. The most widespread race, breeding across northern Canada and wintering in the eastern United States, is the least-studied and least well known of all the races.
A young male White-crowned Sparrow learns the basics of the song it will sing as an adult during the first two or three months of its life. It does not learn directly from its father, but rather from the generalized song environment of its natal neighborhood.
Because male White-crowned Sparrows learn the songs they grew up with and do not travel far from where they were raised, song dialects frequently form. Males on the edge of two dialects may be bilingual and able to sing both dialects

Hello Mario,
Love this shot. Perfect details, well composed and excellent timing. TFS

Hello Mario,

He does look a bit nervous!
The details of his plummage are very good indeed, both for colour and texture.
The movement of his wings really increases the feeling of nervous anticipation, as if he is about to fly off at any minute!
A lovely setting, with a nicely blurred b/g and good composition.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Mario,

I like it!! The face of this White-crowned is just beautiful with perfect details and colors. The fluttering wing is wonderful - I see many juveniles doing that but rarely an adult.

Mario,
Funny, Looks like it's waving at you or some kind of gesture. I love the rich tone of the background that contrasted the bird very well. Great sharpness on the cute littel model. The light is very well contrast that show much of the details as possible. Congratulations! Once again. Amazin gallery you have.

Awesome shot, Mario! You got the motion in this shot!
very well done!

Hello Mario,
The color, exposure, DOF, and flashwork look great..
The wing & tail feathers blur shows movement well also.
Looks like the typical reaction when the bird is very close and hears the cameras shutter mechanism.
Well done & TFS,
Howard

Mario

Another wonderful shot! I have very little experience using the flash in bird photography but the few times I did use it, I ended up with similar behavior being displayed by the bird. Whether the birds get scared by the noise of camera or the flash, it is really incredible that they can react so fast to any disturbance. I guess this is what allows the birds to escape in time when danger is near. I like the fact that you've manged to show the detail of the plumage while the wing is blurred. Makes for an interesting shot. TFS.

Best Regards,

Martin

Bonjour Mario,
