Absolutely fantastic picture...The f11 has kept the subject perfectly focussed and sharp from the tip of the beak to the tail...Perfect use of flash and Im guessing you set the camera to the fixed 250 shutter when flash is attached...I have done this with chaffinches but they move very quickly!!
Excellent work and it has to be a favourite for me.

Your picture is great but what is really incredible is that you totally froze the wings at 1/250th of a second! Those wings move so fast yet they are perfectly frozen. Excellent work. Composition, colors and pose are top notch. TFS.

This is a stunning composition. The DOF is perfect and the contrasting colors are brillant - in fact, that's what caught my attention. I love the POV. Excellent clarity, and the wings in flight...so beautiful. I've yet to see my first hummer this year, but thank you for posting this.
