hello, thanks to all of you for your critiques and comments
to my previous post that was my 200th photo post

my todays photo is one of the Ring-billed Gull,
this photo was shot yesterday, at the pond where are
the Wood Ducks, i was sit in the border of the water and
decide to do test with my SLR-like bridge digital camera,
the test was that, i always shoot in manual mode
choosing myself the shutter speed and aperture,
or i shoot in shutter speed mode, choosing the speed
and living the camera to choose the apeture

yesterday i decide to go in P mode and live
the camera choose the speed and the aperture,
and i shoot a photo of the Common Grackle,
but when i saw this Gull coming and posing
on a dead tree branch i pointed my camera to him
and i saw that the camera indicate me
1/320s for the shutter speed and F8 for the apperture

i did'nt want a photo the Gull posed in the branch,
my goal was to shoot when the Gull will do his flight,
because in P mode the camera was indicating me 1/320s
i did fast to go back on M mode, to choose 1/1000s
for the speed and F8 (like the camera did) for the apperture

and i waited for a good few minutes to shoot
when the gull decide to flew up direction to the water,
here in this image i did a big cropping because
i din't want to include the branch in the image,

in this image i would prefer to see the light
at my back and not at the back of the gull
but those are thing that are part of nature photography

photo shot with my Fujifilm
D-SLR-like bridge camera
in RAW format and in ISO200

Asbed,

That's an awesome in-flight! The POV in this one is superb! I haven't seen a in-flight of a gull in such a pose for quite some time. The lighting didn't work with you but you still managed to get an interesting shot. I'd venture to say that the lighting gives a sense of uniqueness to your shot. Very nicely done.

Best Regards,

Martin

Absolutely wonderful Asbed...I did a workshop just to add your name. I love it! the wings are caught in such a super position...Wonderful work..or fun...from the heart yes?!
Bob

unique shot of a bird, looks good and sharp for being in flight, which I myself find a hard thing to do capturing things in motion

A very different POV, Asbed...Very well timed shot!
Goldy

Hi Asbed,
Really like your POV and this dynamic inflight pose.
It's well composed with great DOF and you've stopped the action nicely. I did a WS to try & bring-up the dark underside a bit.
Well done & TFS,
Howard

Hola Asbed.
You really made a fine work in this photo, frozen in flight. Beautiful blue sky and white of the feathers of the Gull.

Hello Asbed,
You caught this Ring-billed Gull at a great moment in flight to show this beautiful wing position. I was thinking about reducing the shade but I think it is better as it is to show a fine play of light and shade.
Lovely composition against a fine blue sky.
TFS this beauty,
Ivan

Splendido momento di cattura in volo, spettacolare composizione per la plasticitŕ delle forme del gabbiano, ottimo POV, buona nitidezza, molto belli i giochi di luce e i contrasti. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hi Asbed,
Perfect capture of this Ring-billed Gull in-flight. You frozed it in the air. Great shot my friend! TFS.
Cheers,

Bayram

Hi Asbed, the point of view ans the position of light make a difference!!Great shot, perfect sharpenss, you be sure that i like this fantastic work, have a nice Sunday,Luciano

Hello Asbed, you took a very important step in this shot of the Ring-billed Gull, when you decided how you wanted it to look with your manual shot, and you did a great job. You have great stopped in-flight action here with good detail seen on this gull. Lighting on the gull is good with decent shadow detail seen under it. The back lighting with that great blue sky as a contrast looks great.

Thanks, John

Hi Asbed

Hi Asbed,

WOW - I didn't think an in-flight shot with a point and shoot could be this good. You have motivated me to give it a try. I love the position you froze the gull in - just wonderful. Excellent details of the wings and tail feathers. I like the way Howard lightened it a bit. Congratulations friend - a terrific shot.

Jane

Hi asbed a great shot
I´m wondering how many details you got during this action shot
I never get such a capture while I´m capturinga flying bird
but very well done

Hello Asbed,
I looks like an angel with its wings raised. Wonderful capture Asbed, thank you for sharing.
Rick

Dramatic lighting - great strength here. Wonderfully done! In flights are hard to capture and you were dealing with some difficult lighting but you created a wonderful image.
