Hi All,
This Stellar Jay was captured at Cameron Lake in Waterton Lakes National Park the reason for the title is I had some bird seed and I almost had him and some other Stellar and Gray Jays eating out of my hand. I find it interesting that a wild bird can overcome fear of man when offers of food are made, take the food away and the mistrust returns. I love these two species as they are beautiful, bold and very vocal.

Hi Rick,

A nice capture of a bird I havent seen before,it looks a bit like the blue jay that is posted quite a lot on TN,the composition looks great as well as the focus and details, however on my screen it could have a bit more of contrast, anyway a pleasure to look at and a joy if you can get this close to wild birs (with or without some food),tfs

Really beautiful bird and wonderful picture

He is a beauty Rick...one of your better images...well dang...so many are good but today this one sure sticks out well...As good as one can get I would think. I am missing the sun here in your image which in this case as in so many, helps give more subtlety to the contrast...otherwise it would be too washed out. Nice photo...really I could fill my walls with your images having grown weary of my own after 40 plus years...

Hello Rick,
A Stellar's Jay!
Last time I saw this guy was in 1973 in Yosemite, before I took up photography!
Great POV, pose, sharpness and composition make this an excellent image and one to take into my favorites to remind me of when I saw it last 35 years ago!
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Ivan

Hello Rick,
What a brilliant capture of Steller's Jay in a lovely pose. I like your POV and the sharp details as well as the wonderful colours. Perhaps this could be sharpened a bit more but I rather like the hazy effect! Nice soft background and well composed.

Hi Rick

An excellent capture of one of my favourite North American birds - I remember seeing my first one on the slopes of Mt Lassen and could not believe how beautiful it was.

Great pose with lovely detail and colour.

James

Hallo Rick
Magnificent capture of this charming bird. This photo is stunning, and I like the sharpness and details you got on the plumage. The patterns on the back feathers is really impressive. I like the way you captured the pose showing its profile and the back of the plumage. The combination of blue and black feathers and the small white patches above the eyes is a perfect match, resulting in a perfect photo for a perfect bird. Splendidly framed and presented in a delightful manner. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
My best regards.
Anna

Chris

Hi Rick,
