Hi folks , with the morning dew covering the woods , the spider webs that mostly go unnoticed where revealed. , I was not sure if I could get a decent image but tried to focus on the underside of the spider while stopping down quite far. I liked the effect of the dew on the web so I took a few shots to be sure I got something. some with a flash , this one without.

I believe that this spider is in the sheet web weaver family , by the way it is on the underside of its web , when prey strays on top of the web it will reach through with its legs and tangle its prey up , later repairing the hole , when threatened they simply drop to the grass coverage below.

I have commented on my last two posts about using the tc20 tele-converter and that I was not coming up with a great image from it , so I went with my tripod today , I have to say that there was a whole world of difference. I do rather wish that I had a collar tripod mount on it though. still I got a way better success rate far sharper images, and a great workout lugging it around :-D

thanks for stopping in.
regards
Art

Hi Art,
this is an outstanding looking photo and you have caught much detail with very good colour and the light looks great.I think that you can still get great field of depth without the lens so stopped down as that does increase the shutter speed and keeps the image sharp but at 1/3 of a second this is an excellent image. This photo is an inspiration to me to go out and use my own macro lens which I have had for two years now and have only used on three occasions. The world of the very small is fascinating and I thank you for giving us this view of that world, good stuff. Bob

Hi Art
This is fantastic. The drops on the web are awesome and the sharpness on the spider is great TFS.

Hello Art,
What a beautiful string of pearls! This spider seems to construct rather an irregular web! Great capture showing sharp details against a fine background and I love the pearls!
TFS and regards, Ulla
