Hello my friends. Another post of the Wind at the Ile Verte. One afternoon we decided to go and explore the end of the island, on the west tip. There is a small road leadidng there, a road so small, it reminded me of the ones found in southern France in the country.

The wind was very strong that day and the tide was low. We could walk in rocks for a long time and the birds were all the way at the end. There were some small rocky islands there where they would hang and feed themselves.

On this picture you can see gulls flying in the wind, almost without moving... I love to watch them fly in the wind as if they would do it out of pleasure because they would not even move an inch, just float there in the wind. I cannot say what species of gulls they are, if someone can help with the ID I would greatly appreciate.

On the small island you can see cormorants. I heard that they were nesting in the islands in the estuary so I presume those were nesting cormorants. They fly in lines, one behind each other and on the St.Lawrence they look small...

You might also recognize the Common Eiders, males and females, at the foreground, with one Cormorant among them. There are also some gulls.

Because of the zoom the shore of the north side of the island seems close but it's not so close. This is a north-west view where the birds would hang around. We could also see a seal once in a while but my pictures didn't come out great because they were too far and only the head is coming out of the water.

That day was the windiest of the whole week. We heard that in Quebec City some damages were done to trees and some roofs because of it. When I say windy, I really mean it! Hope you enjoy,

Francine

Hello Francine
This is a lovely scene as the mixed pack of gulls!! power through the wind..The white water being whipped up by the wind really displays how strong the wind is...This is a truly lovely scene and very well captured with that lovely leica of yours.
I trust you and yours are keeping well.

A very beautiful seascape indeed Francine. Yes , i know the way they fly when they do not seem to move an inch except float in the air, i have seen eagles do that here....many a times you can see them just floating around and that is also one of the easist moments to capture them.I like the dynamic scene here with buzzing life all around...i can smell the water , hear the wind and the birds and feel the rocks beneath my feet...a very original scene and pov indeed..
thanks for sharing this
Cheers

Hello Francine,
It looks like you had really stormy weather but also plenty of birds! This is a beautiful coastal scene showing how the birds are totally undisturbed by the rough wind and waves. Great focus on the gulls in flight and nice to see the Eiders and Cormorants too. Well done!
Many thanks for your kind comment on my dragonfly!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello My Friend,
First I hope your fibromyalgia is easing and your lips are healing. This great image shows the power mother nature has, just look at the white caps. The gulls fighting to make headway in the wind and the other species just resting on the rocks. Thank you Francine for sharing this powerful scene.
