[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have been busy the past days. I sold all my Canon gear, camera and lenses included. It went so fast, it's incredible, people are really looking for good equipment. It's funny, it makes me feel lighter, I almost felt the selling of my equipment like a very buddhist action. To get rid of everything is very buddhist, to remain naked in life and simple. Paul Auster, the famous American author, really writes in a buddhist way: his characters are always loosing everything in order to liberate themselves.. in a way even though it doesn't all the time feel this way when one reads his books. But the theme of "dénuement",
"nakednessing" is recurrent in most of his books...

That's a diversion but I tell you, I really felt how good it is to "nakedness", get rid of things. I now stand with my Leica bridge, which is quite good, and I bought myself a small compact, a Panasonic TZ-5, with a 10x zoom, because I love zooms and point & shoot pictures. I think I'm going to have fun!

Now my posting. It relates to the last one I posted, my notes telling about fractals and fractal landscape. I was so fascinated at Ile Verte about this. This landscape, here, is very fractal to me, the shoreline in the background very similar to the curved lines of the superb rock at the foreground. Even the clouds participate in that "everything is the same at different scales"... hope you enjoy!

bonjour Francine

It was and remains a fantastic subject of both science and nature. You have a good eye for this and I like to think thqat perhaps I do as well...but yours are much more obvious I plan on keeping this in mind as I take some of my future landscape shots...you are a good teacher Francine!

Hi Nina

I love the horizontals in this and the gorgeous tones. I can totally understand the feeling lighter - I oten end up with an aching back from carrying my equipment!!

James

Hello Franine,

I know the feelings and sometimes it is me also to heavy the equipment.

Gert

Hello Francine,
beautiful landscape shot with lovely colours, nice composition and pov.
well done.
TFS.

Indeed, this is enjoyable...This is not your typical style, francine...you explore new horizons, and are mastering them beautifully, my friend...
This could pass off for a painting;Mother Nature's strokes have been captured brilliantly!
Cheers!

Hi Francine, splendid seascape capture with a light flow! Great moment! TFS. Have a great day!
Cheers,

This multi-layered landscape image is very beautiful, Francine.
From the dark rocks in the foreground to the clouded sky dissipating into the blue horizon, all the colours merge together to form a very pleasant and attractive composition.
Thanks for sharing it and best regards.

Hello Francine, splendid landscaspe capture. TFS. Regards,

Hallo Francine
Time was my biggest enemy lately, and I have lots of catching up to do. You have really turned out to be a great landscape photographer. I just love the different layers of lines you have captured in this scenery. Starting at the foreground with the rock formations working backwards. The dead calm sea, the blue mountains far in the distance, working upwards to the layers of clouds and the sky itself. A dreamscape photograph. Congratulations.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Francine,

I was on a cruise on the St. Lawrence years ago before I was at all interested in photography. Your photos are whetting my appetite for a repeat trip with camera in hand. A beautiful layered scene of the rocks, sea, mountains and sky. Colors and composition are beautiful.

Jane

Francine,
An OUTSTANDING landscape.
GREAT image.
TFS.
Mario with friendly greetings.

Hi Francine,
Most people will buy a DSRL camera instead of selling it for a bridge. But I am sure you have good reason to do so.
The simplicity of lines in this shot make it again a very powerful image. The shape of the rocks return again in the clouds. I love the muted colors and the details in the rock.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Francine!

This camera or another, bridge or SLR, all this is not so important. Im portant is what you see and feel and the message you transmit with your picture!

I like the simplicity of this picture: a couple of lines, repeated in all parts, and some solours are all of it. It's simple and beautiful. It seems to as if the rocks, the sea, the shore and the clouds would tell me: look, in a way we are all the same and (should) go the same direction...

Kind regards

Markus

Hello Francine,
Another beautiful capture from your holiday. I like the shiny rocks in the foreground and the distant hills and cloud formations. Beautiful colours too.
Best of luck with your new light equipment - I've done the same thing as you and I don't regret it for a minute!! I like your note too!!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Francine,
Simple & effective comp, great sky.
You've explained why you've sold all your Canon equipment, but life without Canon for me is unthinkable..
My connection to nature has been and always will be in my ability to show it as faithfully as I can. I would lose my house, my clothes, and all those other material things before I would part with my Canon..
And feeling lighter? I can always lose some more weight ;-}

Hi Francine,
A very subtle image with interesting textures and real mood to it.
Your note was interesting to me for several reasons:
I once took sannyas ... in a way. I wanted to try to live moment to moment,in the way that a renunciate does, and I burnt my passport, bank book and gave away all my possessions except a small bag and a change of clothes. I spent nearly a year wandering the country, hitching whichever way a car was going. It was amazing! I never got stuck for anywhere to stay and never went hungry, although I had no tent and no money.
I never had to ask anyone for anything, and it never rained on me,even though the weather all around was sometimes stormy.
It was a truly magical time and I felt so connected to nature.
I still get a tatse of that often.
I go into the rainforest and walk all day, sometimes far from the beaten track.
Its when I feel the happiest and most at peace.
Like you,I use a Panasonic camera.(I tried a Canon Powershot for a little while, but went back to Panasonic again) Now I use a Panasonic Lumix FZ8. Its a fantastic camera and does pretty much everything I need it to.
It even creates flip animations.
You can see some here on my You Tube site. You'll notice I also have a slideshow of my fractals on there, which is the third thing in your note that interested me.
Have you ever played with fractals ?
I create a lot of images using Stephen Fergusons freeware program Tierazon.
You can download it from a link on Amazing seattle Fractals
I also have another site Far Out Fractals" which I should add more to really.
Anyway ... thats more than enough to keep you busy for a while.
Have fun!
Cheers
Steve
