I know I have been posting a lot of seascape but I took so many pictures at Ile Verte, and there are so many I would like to share with you.

Here is a picture of the shoreline, just before sunset, where you can see the colourful rocks that many of you hae seen in one of my previous post (Rock'n'Colours). Very far, almost invisible, there is the lighthouse of the island, the oldest lighthouse of the province of Québec.

In fact, there used to be a boat-lighthouse where the captain would live on the boat-lighthouse all day long and would be replaced at certain periods. It used to be at the further east end of the island, in the middle of the St.Lawrence.

The house we rented is called "Le Bateau-Phare" because the ancestor of the owner was captain of such a boat-lighthouse (bateau-phare is the translation). We could see some pictures of such a boat! Incredible, those people lived in such a particular way. Also, on the island, almost every house had its own smokery to smoke fish; they are still standing there, at the back of many houses. I had never seen a smokery. So people would raise cattle, sheeps and smoke the fish to live.

This is the shoreline on the north side, facing Tadoussac for those of you familiar with the geography of that area. Tadoussac is in Charlevoix, in the Canadian Shield area.

I like this picture a lot because of these wonderful geological formation and the beautiful light hitting the rocks. You can see the forest that's located on the eastern side of the island whereas the western side has been deforested for living. That's where you find the most houses. The nurse of the island told me that there are hermits living there, where to reach their houses there are no roads at all... they are truly the descendants of those captains and fishermen but itis sad to realize that the inhabitants cannot earn their living anymore except with the tourists. Some of them are very nice to tourists, others are quite frustrated... and I understand clearly their situation.

So here is the coast of this beautiful place that kidnapped my heart!

Bonjour Francine,
Very impressive rock formation right at the edge of the coast, must be million years old!
very good layers of colour on the rock especially looks great from the setting sun!
lovely coast too
well done
merci
Tony

bonjour Francine

Hi Francine

A great composition - well planned and executed. Your shot shows the fine layers in the rock - probably from seasonal deposition over hundreds of thousands of years, subsequently titled by tectonic activity.

James

Preciosa toma cargada de dinamismo por ese excelente primer plano de las rocas. Preciosa gama de colores y trabajados contrastes que crean un conjunto muy atractivo.

Lovely colors with great detail, exposure, DOF, and colors Francine..
The comp has a great blend of multiple layers i.e. sky, sea, treeline, and the near rock strata/texture FG is very nice also.
I hope I did not seem too insensitive on my last critique..

This is a great capture, Francine!
You have captured wonderful rock strata on the shore of Ile Verte in a great diagonal composition with the forested slope in the BG. The colours of the rock strata are fantastic.
TFS this beautiful landscape,
Best regards, Ivan

Hi Francine

I see you've turned to landscapes lately :) Interesting!
Your travels through Ile Verte were indeed very beautiful and worth showing here :)

I really liked this shot primarily because of the amazing strata from the FG and and the way their lines lead the way towards the BG. Very well composed in this aspect.
I think you could use a polarizer for these types of shots; that way you would get a better saturation and contrast the natural way and you wouldn’t have to add it in PP, plus i think you would actually be happier just when taking them.
Even so, this shot has beautiful colors and excellent sharpness all the way.
Nice work.

Bravo and TFS
