hello dear TN friends, today i am presenting you the painted turtle,
it is not the first time that i am shooting in photo a turtle,
i have already done few photos of swiming turtle in summer 2006,
but i prefer the one taken yesturday, for the pose of the turtle
and because for the environnement aquatic vegetations where he is

when in summer 2006 i have done swiming turtle photos
i never did reseaches to kno what a kind of turtle it is,
today (yesturday night) i did and learned that
it is the painted turtle and from this website

http://www.tortoise.org/archives/chrysemy.html

« i learned that « The painted turtle (Chrysemys picta)
is the most widely distributed North American turtle,
and the only one to range across the entire continent,
occurring from southern Canada to northern Mexico and
from the northwestern to the southeastern United States. »

and i learned too, that there is 3 speecies of the painted turtle :
- The eastern painted turtle
- The midland painted
and
- The western painted turtle

why when i shot swiming turtle photos in 2006
i did not do searches to kno what kind of turtle it is ?

the reason is that at that time it was the photos
of the subjects (ducks and other animals) i was interesting,
and now, THANKS TO TN and his creators, i am interesting
for the subjects too and not only the photos,

thanks to TN, i learned alot reading on notes
and when i was to post an image, i did searches
found websites and learned alot again

i would like to finnish my notes by telling that
this photo was again shot with my 5 megapixels,
3X zoom, small « Point & Shoot » Nikon camera
and i am realy loving the colour tones that the small
compact Nikon is giving me and i am thinking if someday
i have the budget to choose between a Nikon D300
an a Canon 40D, i would go with the Nikon

this photo was shot at ISO50

Merci

Asbed

Hi Asbed, wonderful capture of this cute terrapin with splendid colours in its natural environ. Unfortunately this cute animal was dometicated by humans and spread to many unnatural places such as Turkey, etc. Your shot show us once more that all animals are beautiful in their original residence. TFS my friend!
Cheers,

Bayram

Hi Asbed,

So good to see this turtle in its natural habitat. Usually I see them in cages. You caught him very well through the reeds and we get a good view of him. I like the way he has his head up in the air.

Jane

HA! I had to seek it out a bit but the greens are so cleverly hiding it...at least somewhat..your greens are again super here and do indeed kepp the attention and focus!

Hello Asbed,
IF one wanted a shot of a Painted Turtle in its natural habitat this must be great choice. The turtle is sharply depicted and it it is well composed in the reedy aquatic habitat with fine colours and lighting.

Thanks for sharing this delightful image,
Ivan

Hola Asbed.
I love Turtles, even when I was bited by one of them when I was a little boy and we were swimming in a river. all of My friends laugh a lot of me that time. great memories isnt it?
Lovely photo Asbed. Great colors.
Luis52.

Asbed,

Very nicely captured. You seem to be able to approach wildlife without much difficulty. The previous shots of the heron and now this one prove just that. I always found it very surprising that turtles can move so quickly when they sense danger (or me coming with a camera :) You've done wonderfully here Asbed. TFS.

Best Regards,

Martin

Hello Asbed. Very nice shot in natural habitat. Good contrast with pleasant warm light catching on the surface. Thanks for sharing and best regards. Jusni

Hi Asbed,
Nicely seen in its natural habitat, clear details.
Good color/DOF and I think you managed the exposure well also.
I would go with the 40D myself, but that's just me ;-}
Great post!
Howard

Hi Asbed,
Nice presentation of the painted turtle in its habitat and vegetation.I like the overall green provided by the standing reeds. The pose of the turtle is interesting showing movement as if it is trudging along the marshy waters.Fine lighting and well saturated colours.
TFS & Cheers
