[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi Folks , todays I went to the local bird sanctuary called Frank Lake , of course there are many birds , mostly ducks and grebes , gulls , and terns. there are two kinds that I could see there , this the least tern , and another which I think was a black tern , a bit smaller than this one , and very quick.

speaking of quick , boy I have to say that I worked and worked to get this one , I took a lot of shots at these birds as they swooped in for their prizes , not very many of the shots turned out , but I guess that is the way of it. at least I got some good practice panning and coaxing my auto focus to stay on target.

the tern would make runs always facing the wind , diving and diving again , I found as I tracked it that if I pressed for focus as it hit the water I could easier lock on , it was fairly difficult just to keep these birds in the view finder never mind the focus area :-)

though I got way more bad shots than good , and more mosquito bites than pictures :-) I still enjoyed the trip a lot. I also got to see a bird that I have never seen before , I am not sure what it is yet and I only got some so so shots of them , but it looked a lot like a heron but was black and had a slender curved bill... I will have to look that one up.

I am going to post a second one to the workshop as well one at the end of a dive.

thanks for stopping in
regards
Art

Hi Art.
You managed to take a very artistic shot. Posture of the gull and its wingspread are amazing. I also like very pleasant BG. Exposure parameters are great and sharpness of the bird image is perfect. I am impressed with composition and cropping of the image. Well done and TFS.
Alexei.
