[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The River Jewelwing is a member of the broad-winged damselfly family (family Calopterygidae). These large damselflies, 1-2" (25-51 mm) long, differ from members of related families in that their wings broaden gradually from the base, rather than appearing stalked.

When the insect is at rest, the wings are held together vertically above the slender body, which is usually metallic green or black. The slender, long-legged naiads stalk some prey among plants in shallow streams and occasionally in ponds. Damselfly naiads, unlike dragonfly naiads, have external gills on the tip of the abdomen.

Nice pic Lise - good depth of field considering angle. Suggest you process it to emphasize colour - I think changing brown background to something else would really enhance your picture.

Hello Lise. Excellent damsel captured in perfect sharpness and clarity. Stunning perch and thanks for sharing. Best regards. Jusni

On dirait un insecte magique, Lise, il est si beau qu'on le porterait en broche! Très belles couleurs, superbe photo, j'aime beaucoup le cadrage et le bel arrière-plan. Merci!

Francine

You have some nice iridescent colours on this Lise.
The leaf is a bit over exposed, but the damselfly is perfect.
TFS.
Enjoy your week.
Guess you never got the message....
