hello dear TN friends, few days ago i started new posting
of mammals and i was to post one photo every 2 days
a total of 5 mammals photos, i already posted 2 photos

and yesterday having done this photo of the Wood duck
ducklings perched with their Mommy, instead of posting
a mammal photo, i decide to post this photo

it is not he best quality of photo, but this is a photo
that i wanted, i am very very happy having put
in focus all the ducklings that where perched with Mommy

i have alot (alot and alot) photos of adult wood duck
that are perched in the trees, this is my first one
of the ducklings, of course it is not a higher tree,
it is a dead tree branch on the middle of the pond,
they still can't fly this ducklings and they went
there by walking on the branch when Mommy came first

as i wrote the quality of the image is not the best
here what it count to me is to had this photo,
the quality of the photo is not the best because
i had to double the 300mm zoom of my bridge,
and doubling the Zoom i loose in the quality of the image

photo shooted with my Fujifilm Bridge, in JPEG format
at ISO400, and you will see that the shutter speed is 1/2000s

hummm...1/2000s for an image that there is no movement ?
dear friends it is because i don't have image stabilizer,
but with the camera now i had the small tripod
that i am using as handygrip to stabilize the camera

from the Hinterland Who's Who website i choosed these notes
for the complete notes i invite you to go to that link :

« The female Wood Duck breeds when one year old. She lines
the nest with down, or fine feathers, taken from her breast,
and lays eight to 15 dull-white to cream-coloured eggs.
She incubates, or keeps the eggs warm, for 28 to 30 days
until they hatch. During unusually cold weather, or if the
female is away from the nest for an abnormally long time,
incubation may require a few extra days.

Upon hatching, usually in June in eastern Canada,
the young use their sharp claws to climb up the inside
of the nesting cavity to its entrance, then jump and flutter
to the ground, generally landing unharmed. The female guides
them to the nearest water, where they will spend the next eight
to nine weeks hunting for food together. »

Merci

Asbed

Hi Asbed,

It looks like we photographed the same birds over the last two days .. well almost. I walked upon a mallard family on my walk today. All together, it consisted of 9 ducklings and a very proud mom. I do have a picture of it but I am reluctant to post it. My wife loves it but to me, its lacking something - I just can't put my finger on it. Anyways...
I really like this shot. It shows this family in its natural habitat. I love how those little ducklings are sitting comfortably on a tree. I suppose they are called wood ducks for a reason :) Thanks for sharing. Great work.

Best Regards,

Martin

Hi Asbed,

Your notes always make me smile. This is a true nature shot with the Wood Duck and her babies in their natural habitat. They are so cute sitting on the tree and Mama (in very good detail) looks so proud of them. I love the setting too.

Hello Asbed

A super moment captured.
I think many people will admit they have never seen a family of ducks in a tree before.
The details are very good.
Well done on the pov.

This is something I would love to see at my lake here. Fantastic to see the little ones. Very good Asbed.

Hi Asbed, I've never seen a wood duck in the wild, only through shots such as yours. I've obviously been looking in the wrong places. I need to start looking in the trees. This is a fantastic shot with the mother duck and her brood in the tree. She is training them early. This is a very good natural setting with great detail seen throughout.

Thanks, John

Hello Asbed,
How unusual to see ducks up in a tree and this Mum and her young ones look really great! Lovely natural feel about this fine composition with the family nicely in focus.
Many thanks, Ulla

Hi Asbed, lovely composition with fantastic colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

I remember this family Asbed! Yes it is a nice place for them to sit and dry out. these types of birds always look very passive. very relaxed even in their hunting for food or bathing..or being submerged...what fun..Very nicely done in the series..
Bob

Hello Asbed,
A fine capture of a mother Wood Duck with her ducklings up in a dead tree. The POV and composition over the water is deligtful. A great habitat shot too, the water most probably being the cause of the tree dying.
TFS this fine image,
Ivan

Francine

Hello Asbed

You've captured a nice family photo! I must say this is a first for me seeing this family resting on a tree. I guess it makes sense as they are Wood Ducks. Too cute! A nice composition.
