Rick,
Some lessons are learned the hard way.... some lessons might be the last ones. This squirrel is either careless or ... just wanted to pose for you? We'll never know. In any case, you've used this opportunity very well. You've captured this one with very nice detail, pose and POV. Very nicely done Rick, TFS.
Best Regards,
Martin

I am looking at the wonderful image of the creature...and looking at the tile as well...but putting two and two together...I can see more than a projection here...I do indeed sense a feeling that this summer has had some changes on TN....as opposed last, but it is only me?
A fine image from the north Rick....Jane looked at this and said she wishes she were not in so much pain and could appreciate living back in the wilds...that is where this mammal belongs as seen and where our hearts lie as well...nicely seen...and simple well titled.

Hi Rick,
You are right - he wasn't too smart. But all's well that ends well and you got a great shot. It was wonderful that he fit right between the wires and you captured all of him in wonderful detail. Love the composition with the tall reeds framing the image.

Hi Rick.
Wonderful shot of the cute animal. Amazing subject at whole and superb quality of the shot. DOF is great. Dry old trunk, squirrel, impressive grass and wire are crisp sharp and BG is blurred nicely. Lights and exposure are spot on as well as the composition. My kind regards and TFS of top-quality image.
Alexei.

Hello Rick,
What a cute little fellow sunning itself on the fencing post. I love its pose and the sharp details. Beautiful light and colours too. The little tail looks funny hanging straight down! Barbed wires or Hawks obviously don't worry him at all!! Excellent capture!!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Rick, perhaps it was the last "great act of defiance" to get up and pose for you in front of the hawks, unless he was the look out for the pack and was doing his job, great pov and an excellent composition. regards h

Hi Rick
I can't say that I've seen the RGS sitting on a pole very often. A unique look for this little guy. Love the composition, love the colours and love the lighting and clarity.

Foolhardy, and perhaps brave... THe texture here is terrific, as is the pose. Perhaps he's scouting out the area, and like many rain-drenched animals, just wants a bit of sun. He/she may also be hoping that the hawks are looking for other animals dumb enough to go out into the open...
They can move fast though, yes? This little feller almost appears to be smiling, so perhaps he knows something we don't. The point of view is pleasant as it shows him on the outskirts of an urban (aka: homes), yet far enough away (if the predators aren't aware of his bold creature) to get away...

Hi Rick, truly wonderful composition here, i love the way all the different elements are layed out arund the frame, and as for the Groud Squirrel itself...brilliant. Hope he survived unscathed.

Hi Rick,
We're back. Funny you should post a shot of the prairie as it was the prairie around Waterton that I liked the best. I think it is just so beautiful in the spring. We managed a few bear shots in Waterton but didn't stay long there. It is so expensive and we made the ridiculous mistake of arriving there on the weekend... the first warm weekend of the season!!
I like your little squirrel shot. It is really a cool composition with the vertical, horizontal and angled lines.

Hello Rick
I like rustic shots with old rusty fences and weathered fence posts ,so this one is appealing to me.
The composition is very good.
Lovely lighting and colours.
Terrific sharpness and focus.
Great job.

Mon ami Rick, that is the sweetest little squirrel I have ever seen, how cute it is and the composition here is wonderful. I really love this piece of wood where the squirrel stands, against the wires and the grass. Beautiful pov and great composition, merci beaucoup!

Lovely. What a pose. Details and colors are brilliant.
I might have slightly rotate it to make the barbed wire horizontal (only a small nit though. The pic is great)

Nice frame there!
Two strands of barbed-wire, and two stalks of wild oats...
Then that loverly angle on the post that is falling down,
yet still providing support for this varmint...
Someone should tell this oblivious lil bugger
about that hawk circling overhead!
Quite a symbolic shot my friend! Congrats,
and TFS!
PS Given the reality of fences out here I think the barbed wire running the way it does is perfect!
See Workshop.

Very good shot with the character of the post and wire. The squirel's fir and the grass are equally textured to add to the look of the softness of the picture. Well taken Rick. Trevor
