Orb Weaver
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Hi Folk's , today I have found this orb weaver spider, another common resident here in Alberta , but one that is not so commonly seen.
this is a marbled orb weaver , certainly not the biggest that could have been found ,at around half of the two centimeters they can grow to.
the marbled orb weaver is one of the more colorful spiders to be found here , they weave the distinctive orb shaped web , but are not commonly seen on their web , they will secret them selves in nearby shrubs or other cover with a tell tale thread leading from their web , the thread is to alert them to movement on their web indicating a captured meal. if you are to find an empty orb web , you may want to look a bit closer there just may be a line leading from that web to this girls hide away ;-)
thanks for stopping in
regards
