hello dear TN friends, the Eastern Kingbird is the 2 second (of 3)
new speeecies of bird that i took in photo at the Nature Park
of Bois de l'ile Bizard : http://www.out-there.com/qc12bib.htm

here is near his nest, there is chicks on the nest,
this image is from far but i dcided to post it,
the male and the female where relaying to do
the guardian of the nest and the chicks
and to go bring food for the chicks

and one time i saw the couple of Eastern Kingbird
attacking a brid of prey to move him awy from the nest,
i saw too one of the couple doing the same thing to a crow

photo shot with my slr-like
Fujifilm bridge camera
at RAW format and ISO400

from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology website
here some interesting notes on the Eastern Kingbird :

http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Eastern_Kingbird.html

« The Eastern Kingbird is highly aggressive toward nest predators
and larger birds. Hawks and crows are attacked regularly.
A kingbird was observed to knock a Blue Jay out of a tree
and cause it to hide under bush to escape the attack.

During the summer the Eastern Kingbird eats mostly
flying insects and maintains a breeding territory that
it defends vigorously against all other kingbirds. In the winter
along the Amazon, however, it has a completely
different lifestyle: it travels in flocks and eats fruit.

Parent Eastern Kingbirds feed their young for about
seven weeks. Because of this relatively long period
of dependence, a pair generally raises only
one brood of young per nesting season. »

Merci

Asbed

Hi Asbed

A nice capture of this bird - one I had not heard of - thanks for that. Good pose in its natural habitat. Well seen and captured.

James

Hi Asbed, splendid composition and capture. TFS.

Congratulazioni per la splendida cattura, molto bella la composizione con le silhouette degli alberi "morti", buona nitidezza, molto saturi i colori (personalmente penso che i colori siano un "bit" troppo saturi). Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hello Asbed,
Though the Eastern Kingbird looks small he is sharply shown in this image and you did right not to come closer to disturb it. The habitat and nest is clearly shown against a fine blue sky in a pleasing composition with the dead tree branches.
TFS this interesting image,
Ivan

Bonjour Asbed
Belle capture de ce bel Eastern Kingbird dans son naturel habitat
dommage qu'il soit un peu loin!
Amitiés
Albert

Nice capture of this Kingbird guarding the nest Asbed..
I think the centered minimalistic comp works well, with all the branches framing the bird.
I did a WS to try & improve your post today.
TFS & have a nice weekend,
Howard

Hi Asbed,

A very effective shot with the blacks and whites against the royal blue sky. Even though he is at a distance the Kingbird is sharp and clear. The composition is excellent. The only thing ruining it was the noise and Howard did an excellent job in taking care of that.

I have been removed temporarily due to fire but now am home once more..fire did not damage nor came hear..It was an allergy problem...A very fine addition to your ever expanding and wonderful collection. It almost looks as if it doesn't belong in this place:-0)

Francine
