Hello TN,

I've been absent from TN for a while now and it looks like I'll be away for another month or so. I have too much happening at the present, the camera is collecting dust and other things are taking priority. I have a lot of catching up to do but it looks like I'll get to it in late August. So take care everyone, sorry for the absence and have a great summer. I might have a few spare moments to drop in before then, I guess time will tell....

Best Regards,

Martin

EDIT: I didn't go into details about this shot. I think it would be a good idea to give a little explanation of the odd colors in the background.
What you see in the background is the pond surface I took this shot by. The green / yellowish colors are actually made by duck weed that has overgrown this pond completely. The sun illuminated the duck weed causing the greens / yellowish colors to come out as they did. With the bird hidden between the branches (and completely in a shadow), it caused a rather different color composition. (It sure made for difficult lighting conditions - only 1/320th on a bright sunny day) Hope this clarifies it a bit :)

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Hallo Martin
I have noticed your absense and I am glad to see you popped in to tell us why you have not been so active lately. This is indeed a black-eyed beauty. A lovely portrait of this sour- faced-look-a-like bird. This guy really does not look as if is a very happy chappy at the moment. I see humans with similar faces daily.
Altough it seems as if this bird is not very joyful at the moment is still remain a lovely and minute bird. You have captured it with great clarity and detail and here I especially refer to tiny yellow patch on the beak and the unique patterns on the body feathers. Thanks for sharing and hope you do not stay away to long.
Kind regards.
Anna

Hi Martin,
I'll be back for critique.
Thanks for posting.

I like your sharp little bird and the composition is really strong with the branch mirroring the shape of the bird. I don't understand the strong cyan/yellow cast to the image.

I hope that whatever it is that is keeping you from TN is fun and not work. See you when you return. : )

Evelynn
