Hello Claudine,
what a lovely young cardinal you grace TN with today!There is nothing about this photo that needs changing and if there is a fault it would be that leaf that blocks the view of the bird's right foot,however that can not be helped as wildlife doesn't pose on command.I love the sharpness and colour of this fellow's plumage and the catch light in his eye.Here in Alberta there has only ever been two cardinals ever reported as seen and I miss these birds very much.Thanks for sharing a familiar old favorite as I remember seeing them so often when I lived in Ontario. Une belle image rapprochée de ce cardinal sur la branche, il semble fixer quelque chose devant. La prise de vue permet de voir avec précision les détails et les couleurs du plumage de l'oiseau. Le sujet est bien cadré. Bonne journée.

Your young one is quite a bit older than the one I posted. Mine still has the black beak and we can't tell the sex yet. This is a beautiful young male still with the young expression on his face. I love the way the red plummage has started. Beautiful pose, colors, details and composition.

This is sure nice detail and POV Claudine. It seems dark in there...but the cardinal turned out great with the flash.

Stunning close-up and magnification. POV is wonderful as well as the pose and glance of the bird. Details are ultimate. We can see all even tiny details of the bird. I like wonderful surroundings-BG created by twigs and leaves. Bravo. Well done.

Hi Claudine

A lovely capture of this juvenile showing us a bit of the "spark of youth" in the little catchlight in the eye. The photo shows lovely sharp details of the bird's plumage & features and excellent colour saturation. Isn't it just amazing how those unwanted leaves, twigs, grass blades, or branches always manage to get in the way? One of the weirdest realities of nature photography as these things tends to jump into our shots at the most unbelievable times or places.

These are lovely little birds and it is a pity we don't see them around here. I would just love to point my camera at some of them and capture a few shots. Ok, call me jealous (chuckle).

I love the warm and very beautiful tones of red in the plumage of this juvenile Cardinal.
Your fill-flash worked really well here! Excellent focus on the eye and sharp details too. I like the dark background too and the green leaves look so good with the red colours.

You was really close to the bird here, and got plenty of fine details all over.
Good lighting work, I like the effect on the eye and the rich texture on the legs and branch.
It looks interesting to me all that leaves at different focus, and the bird at the middle as the center of interest.
