Wild Rose
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Hi Folks , I thought today I would go with another flower . The wild Rose is Alberta's official flower , and a favorite to me. A very delicate beauty the come and go quite quickly.
I am not going to try to say anything scientific about this flower , it is common enough that I am sure there will be very few who visit that will not already know about this flower :-)
shooting the picture I again used the sb-600 speedlight , set to TTL , by doing this the camera is very forgiving of the settings I make , as long as they meter as under exposed by a reasonable amount the flash will compensate and give a nice exposure , by controlling the level of under exposure the camera is metering at I am able to strike a certain level of balance between the light from the flash and the natural light. at f/16 , 1/200 the flash really did very little to compensate for light. I like the effect this has on the background. had I wished to try a bit harder I could also have acted against the shadowing under the pedals by moving the flash off the camera and on to a tripod in commander mode , the nikon lighting system allows for a lot of options as to how much light comes from which flash as well. mostly I just use it on the camera though :-) , this was a simple walk past picture , not something I spent much effort on :-)
thanks for stopping in
regards

Hello Art,
a really stunning piece of roses. Great clarity and lovely colours in a great blurry background.
Great composition.

Hi Art
A lovely flower and TFS. A difficult shot to get in focus so appreciate your notes on your challenge with the exposure. The flower has come up well against the dark background.
Cheers
Sue
