Writing On Stone Provincial Park
Locate in Southeastern Alberta, Canada

This image is looking south, and in the distance are the Sweetgrass Hills which are in Montana. The U.S. border from Writing On Stone is only 10 km away. The elevation of the highest hill is 2129m above sea level. The hills are made up of Igneous rock.

The Blackfoot people had their own name for the hills calling them the Sweet Pine Hills because of the balsam fir which grows upon them. The Blackfoot people would use the hills to spot bison. Teepee rings and cairns have been found around the hills.

In the foreground are the rock formations called Hoodoo's at Writing On Stone Provincial Park. The sun was setting which brought out many nice colours on the rocks and the prairie in the distance.

Hola Janice,
Un hermoso paisaje con barrancas y los bellos ceros violáceos que están en Estados Unidos. La luz dorada del atardecer tiñe ese lugar con una belleza sin igual

I see you took good advantage of the evening light. It is really nice, and brings out the colors so well. Trouble is, the light just doesn't last long enough. You wander around all day and then panic for a few minutes in the evening trying to capture the light.
