[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello, here it is another new speecies of bird to my gallery,
it is the Black-crowned Night-Heron, photo shot
at the Parc Nature of ile de la Visitation near the river
Rivière-des-Prairies, the river between the island
(city) of Montréal and the island (city) of Laval where i leave

photo shot with my SLR-like Fijifilm Bridge, i had to double
my 300mm zoom, when i do that i loose details in the image
but sometimes i had to do it, photo shot in JPEG, ISO400

« With a range that spans five continents, including much
of North America, the Black-crowned Night-Heron is the
most widespread heron in the world. It is most active at
dusk and at night, feeding in the same areas that other
heron species frequent during the day.

Overall, populations stable. Because of wide distribution
and feeding habits, the Black-crowned Night-Heron
is an excellent indicator of ecosystem health.

The Black-crowned Night-Heron may nest in the
same tree with ibises or other herons.

Adult Black-crowned Night-Herons apparently
do not distinguish between their own young and those
from other nests, and will brood chicks not their own. »

It is a funny image Asbed. Because I cannot see clearly what it is perched on, a log or rock, it looks like it is levitating/floating. It is an optical illusion and works real swell in this image!

Hi Asbed,

I love both the Heron and the beautiful natural setting. Wonderful composition with the rushing water in the foreground and the leaves framing the picture. The Heron stands out very well and seems to be welcoming us into his natural habitat.
