Hello, in this image i was on a footbridge (passerelle)
and i was sleep on my belly to be on the subject's level,
before that when i saw this Common Moorhen
from far coming to the footbridge (to me) i was happy,

they where at far a little family of Common Moorhens,
when i start to do somes shots i suddenly heard
crying sound of a baby, it was her baby,
i prayed that the baby too to come to the footbridge
but he did'nt saw his Mommy and he was crying by whistle,
the baby or young Common Moorhen i did some shots
but i did not love that photos, i could'nt put him in focus,

when later i did this image i was happy, even if he is
not in focus, at least i have it in his mother's photo
and i have it when he is crying calling for Mommy

photo shot with my SLR-like Fujifilm
bridge camera at RAW format and ISO400

i gived a very good sharpness (by Photohsop)
to the image, to have some details of the baby

from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology webiste
here is a very little note on the Common Moorhen :

http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Common_Moorhen.html

« Newly hatched chicks of the Common Moorhen
have spurs on their wings that help them climb
into the nest or grab emergent vegetation. »

Merci

Asbed

I am happy that you saw the little family of Moorhens. I appreciate all your efforts. I'm trying to imagine myself lying on a footbridge... well I might do it if there weren't too many people around. I've been known to get into some interesting positions myself on occasion. : ) Mom looks pretty sharp and I like all the reflections.

A lovely shot of this moorhen. Nice colours and detail. Well seen and captured.

James

I've not yet seen this Common moorhern, Asbed, so all I know about is is from your shots!
Very well seen, and captured in its environment!
Cheers!\Goldy

It is a most complex shot and well worth the post due to its degrees of colour and the pose as well as the reflection..Very nice Asbed!

Hi Asbed,

Oh to be young and be able to get into all kinds of crazy position to take a picture! It worked and you got a great shot with a wonderful pov. This Moorhen seems to be looking at his reflection. Love the pose with the wing and tail feathers up in the air. Nice colors and details and once again a beautiful setting.

Hi
An interesting PoV here Ased of the moorhen as it walks around looking for food (perhaps for its crying baby!

Wow, this must be some wait that you had (also with a dose of sleep!:), but Asbed i also see that you yourself have a liking for acquatic birds especially and must be spending a good time around the waterbodies in you attempt to cpature these beautiful birds j

I find moorhens are not easy to photograph as they keep moving about and witha p&S i have found it difficult to get one neat shot a moorhen. They are either gliding around in water or waking on the embankment but always in search of food.

This is a nice capture with also some other birds in the water seen in OOF mode. The colours on its plumage are well highlighted in natural light and the bird is seen actively hunting for food for its baby.
The shot also does a good job of documenting the habitat of the bird.

TFS & Cheers
