[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi Folks , today I have yet another view of what I believe is called a Pale Snaketail dragonfly. Taken this morning , I decided to renew some experimentation with a polarizer filter on my macro assembly.

I had tried this before but found that using the filter to completly reduce sunlight reflection left the insect looking some what flat , and I guess a bit less life like. to day I tried again , this time only partially reducing the reflection and fell it worked much better , though the color was still a bit muted it easily corrected in photoshop.

would like to give a bit of info for the insect today , in my last couple of shoots I have gotten images of this type of dragonfly , some very close face shots in which I noticed the presence of what appeared to be three simple eyes. most write ups I have come across address the dragonflies amazing compound eyes , but do not give note to the simple ones. they are located directly between the two compound eyes.

these three simple eyes are present on many flying insects I know that grasshoppers also have them and in a much similar configuration. these three simple eyes are believed to give the insect orientation information to aid in flight. the simple eyes are called ocelli , and provide Directional selectivity

thanks for stopping in , hope that you like it
regards

Hi Art!

Fantastic macro work! I like POV and composition. Dragonfly from this POV looks like an ancient flying machine. Perfect details and sharpness.
