Hi Michel,

What a strange position this Bittern is in! He looks as if he is ready to spring into action. Beautiful shades of browns, tans, and gold. The face, eye, feathers and even his feet are wonderfully detailed. You must have had a great day.

HI Michel , wow , what great detail , excellent warm color, and an interesting posture to the bittern , one thing I do notice here though is the frame seems a bit low on the bird , it almost feels like it is scrunching the bird in the picture , maybe a touch of headroom would have been good .

You were indeed lucky. There are few Bitterns reported around my area and people are waiting for days to catch just a glimpse of them from far away. Your picture is very clear, sharp and the colours are just amazing. Very well done.

Je vois que vous avez aussi constitué un petit groupe pour faire des excursions-photos. C'est vraiment très sympa.
J'aime bien l'attitude très vive de ce petit héron perché sur une branche au-dessus de l'eau. Magnifique plumage couleur-terre.

Eres un gran artista con las aves Michel, lo demuestras foto a foto y es un placer ver tu galería... aún tengo grabada tu sencilla y mágnífica " pied-billed Grebe " !!.
La que presentas muy bien enfocada y con un excelente encuadre, quizás algo subida la luz pero no se las condiciones en que estabas para tomarla.

very fine, well controlled rich colours, with amazingly clear and at the same time pleasantly smooth details.
A nice forward motion.
The busy and very similarly coloured background enhances the notion of perfect camouflage while the bird stands out really well by its pin sharp focus against the soft BG.

Il est difficile de faire un choix pour critiquer une de tes photos. D'un côté, je suis impressionné par la qualité de tes images, de l'autre côté, je ne connais pas grand chose du monde des oiseaux. Cette image me plaît beaucoup pour son unité dans les couleurs. La composition est excellente même si moi personnellement je pivoterais l'image autour de son axe horizontal pour éviter le vide sur la droite. Bonne gestion de la lumière et des détails.

Le petit Blongios sur la branche est impressionnant, Tu a bien saisi son espression de curiosité. La prise de vue permet de distinguer les détails et les couleurs de son plumage. La qualité de la luminosité fait ressortir les couleurs. L'image est claire et précise. Ta visite dans l'ouest de la ville était-elle au parc nature du Bois de l'Ile-Bizard ? Bonne soirée.

Hi Michel,
this is a fine looking capture of the bittern and one that is rather rare as well.Here in Alberta we have these birds but as of yet I have not seen one.The body it has is shaped similarly to a black- crowned night heron's and yes they sure must be secretive creatures indeed.This capture has all the right things working for it with colour,point of view and focus all being first rate.Thanks for sharing this excellent looking bird with us.
