hello dear TN friends, when yesterday i did that
in-flight shot of the Ring-billed Gull i decide
to comeback with posting that in-flight image
and dedicating it to Paul (Lawbert),

about an hour later when i did this shot i was more
happy because i said to myself this one i will
dedicate it to Rob (Arfer), this is for you Rob

as i already wrote one time, i was very inspired
from your, Moose, White-Tailed Deer, Fox,
Coyote, Wolf, Blue Jay, Ruffed Grouse and many
many other great shots of birds and wild animals

in this image the Mallard duckling open-closing
his wings like do the adults, on this position
it is from last year i wanted a photo like this,
yesterday when this cute duckling went under
the water, i said to myself be ready to click
when he will open-close his small wings

i am very very happy because it was
a shot i wanted, photo shot also with
my point & shoot Fujifilm, ISO160

from the Hinterland Who's Who wbsite
here is some notes on the mallard duclings :

http://www.ffdp.ca/hww2.asp?id=54&cid=7

« As soon as the ducklings are dry, the female leads
them to the nearest water. This may be a long and
hazardous journey. Although the female may have
nested near a pothole or slough full of spring meltwater,
much of this water may have evaporated, leaving nothing
but drying mud. On overland trips, straggling ducklings
may get lost in the grass or be picked up by predators. »

« Once on the water, the female leads her brood
to feeding areas. The young find their own food,
which at first probably consists of small crustaceans,
or hard-shelled creatures, such as water fleas, insects,
and tiny plants like duckweed. »

« The young gradually lose their down and grow
their feathers. In about 10 weeks they have assumed
a plumage that is much like that of the female.
By that time, the female has abandoned them. »

Merci

Asbed

....I hope the positive qualities of this wonderful lit image come shining through for all of us as is does for me...Rob would be so happy to see this...I hope he does soon and I hope he can appreciate it soon as well...Very nice use of light. The contrast between dark and light and the colours of an almost golden in the duck are wonderful Asbed. You continue on in your own traditional way of finding the spirit and heart of nature!
Bob

Dear Asbed,
Your peculiar way of capturing images are well reflected in your posts. It is another beautiful example of ducklings. I appreciate the composition, POV & the moment frozen "open close wings" by you. TFS.
Regards-Subhash

I just love the enthusiasm you put into your postings! ... and I know that Rob will be proud that he helped you.

I like your little sunlit duckling creating his own concentric circles. Nice job.

Hi Asbed,

A very nice dedication - one I am sure he will be thrilled with. It looks like you have a spotlight on the performing duck. The light is wonderful. I love the pose with him flapping his wings. Great timing to catch the action. The circles in the water surrounding him are great.

Hi, Asbed,

what a wonderful picture!! I agree with Bob, Evelynn and others, you have your own way of finding the spirit and heart of nature! very well done. I really love the duckling with the open wings - she is simply lovely!! I have used up my smileys yesterday (haven't got the new batches yet). I'd love to give you 5 smileys for this one...but I can't at the moment. I hope you'd wouldn't mind :P

Ciao Asbed,
eccellente composizione simbolica da dedicare all'amico di TN Rob: le ali chiuse e queste tonalità drammatiche scure; le tue immagini sono una continua ricerca personale d'interpretazione della natura.
Complimenti e grazie.
Maurizio

Hello Asbed.
As much as I hope Rob sees this, I hope he comes back to TN. Many of us miss his fi´ne images.
This is a great action shot of a duckling exercising his wing stumps. I like the UE effect, the lighting on the duckling and the ripples on the water.
TFS this attractive image,
Ivan
