hello dear TN friends, as you can read in the title of my post
i buyed a new camera, it is not an D-SLR, it is a compact
or i love much more to say a « point & shoot »

it is the Nikon Coolpix P60, 8 megapixels,
5X optical zoom equivalent of 36-180mm,

if i shoot in :
5 megapixels my zoom become 6X (216mm)
3 megapixels my zoom become 7X (252mm)
2 megapixels, my zoom become 10X (360mm),

i did tests, even with 2 megapixels
and i am very happy of the result,

this compact has a manual mode
to choose shutter speed and aperture,
it has also (electronic) viewfinder,
i am mentionning it, because it is not all
compact cameras of today's that have viewfinders,

and the most importing thing to me,
it is the OPTICAL IMAGE STABILIZER,
my new Nikon has the OPTICAL VR

none of my 3 other cameras have
the OPTICAL IMAGE STABILIZER

it was not this image that i was to post
as first image in TN for my new Nikon,
i was decided to post or a marmot shot
or a action shot of a mallard that i did

but yesterday at the beginning of the night
(it was around 7 PM and very poor light)
when i did this shot, i decide to do this photos
the first one my new Nikon's gallery,

i decide to choose this image, because i shooted
at 1/30s of shutter speed and thanks to the
OPTICAL IMAGE STABILIZER my photo is sharp,
we don't see blur of camera (hand) movement

in this image the Light Intensity of the Flash
i set it at + 2.00 (plus 2), and i was at ISO100,

i did not give sharpening by Photoshop because
the camera gives me already a sharp image and
the sharpening in my camera was set at -1 (minus 1)

in the coming days i will post other images
shot with my new point & shoot Nikon

here is notes on the Mallard Duck : http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Mallard.html

Merci

Asbed

Hello Asbed,
A charming picture of two ducklings.
The use of flash has made the evening seem like night, but the effect is quite pleasing. The sharpness of this image could be better, but I am sure that it takes time to get used to your new Coolpix.
The image in general though is nice to look at and thanks for sharing it,
Ivan

Hi Asbed.
My congratulations with next toy. I hope it will bring you (an for us) many pleasure by capturing and photos. This is funny a bit. Flash work creates an unique light effect around dark surroundings. As we can see sharpness is great as well as the colours of the camera (and image). My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.

I really like the colour rendition this new camera has. It is almost an artform. the image give some real depth in that way and the off centered is fine. I hope you continue to have fun with the Nikon Asbed. It looks like a few good days..

Hi Asbed,
This is a very good and unusual nature night shot.
The outcome works pretty well, I like the way the bright colours were highlighted, the glare at the eyes. And you even got water reflections!
Congratulations on the new camera and thanks for share this.
My best regards,
JM

Hi Asbed,

Congratulations on your new camera!! You got off to a great start with it. The ducklings and their reflections are delightful. Their eyes almost glow in the dark. Lovely colors and composition.

Jane

Hi Asbed,
You have managed to create a very beautiful picture with your new camera. The flash gives the impression that the ducklings were shot in complete darkness with nice reflections on the water. Good work.

Bonjour Asbed

Hello Asbed,
Beautiful fluorescent ducklings with sharpness, details & their reflections in the water. The flash has worked well to highlight the entire environment. They must be quite susceptible to night predators! TFS.
