"A FLOWER WASP"

Thanks again to Mr. Haraprasan Nayak from India and one of my BEST friends on TN and in real life I able to correct myself re: the true identity of the species shown here.

This "IS" a flower wasp, possibly a BLACK FLOWER WASP. ( 11:00 AM Calgary time in Canada. 7th. August 2008.)

The note below shall remain "as is" just in case somebody needs to "see" the different types of HOVERFLIES.

For me this is another Hover Fly visiting our Daisies; however, you may want to know the EXACT type. So, be my guest. Once opened, PLEASE click on "SYRITTA" and go down the line to view all the BEAUTIFUL types of Hover Flies.

There was a bee and a FLYING ANT too; all three GRAZING at the same time. Shall post the FLYING ANT another day.

To ENLARGE it please click on the IMPORT.

Namastay Mario,
A nice capture. But this is not a hover fly as hover flies don't have such large antennas for sure. This might be a flower wasp of some type or may be a bee (I am not sure). Anyway a nice close up capture. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Sincerely
Haraprasan

Hi, dear friend.
Very nice close-up. I like excellent sharpness and details of the image. It is not very easy task at macro shooting. I also like strong horizontal cropping too. It is very impressive. I advise you to try use flash. May be effect from flash light will be nice too. My heartfelt wishes and TFS.
Alexei.

hello mario,
nice cpature, i liked the lp version, the composition is different from the usual and looks nice,
tfs & regards
pankaj

Muy impresivo, Mario! What a great idea to do a macro panorama. It's a refreshing approach to the insect-on-flower image, and the petals, in this perspective, make for a most effective backdrop. Nice detail here at the "heart" of the flower. Interesting and informative note on the wasp, too. Good workshop also, BTW -- some fine post-processing there.
