Hi Folks , today I have this horned owl , another creature I came across in the hills of the badlands , found in Drumheller Alberta. I felt quite lucky that this beauty decided to hold tight while I changed from my 18-200mm over to my birding lens :-) , I guess the I likely disturbed its slumber in my passing. unfortunately I turned to see some hawks having a little tussle and this owl flew the coop :-) and I missed the chance for an in-flight of this massive bird :-(

well guess them the brakes ;-)

hope that you like it , thanks for stopping in
regards

Hi Art, great looking bird, stunning eye contact, impressive that you had time to change lens and get this shot... fine work!!

Hi Art,
Very good luck you were able to change the lense. Usually even going to settings is too much. It did let you very close for a bird this size. Excellent picture with good composition and pose, pin sharp details and nice BG. The eyes are amazing! I would adjust exposure a tad bit darker in pp but that is a matter of taste.

hello Art

WOW ! excellent shot of Alberta's avian emblem,
very beautiful luminosity and colours, very fine POV,
DOF and framing, excellent sharpness and details,
great eye-contact with you, only one thing Art,
i would'nt put lined frame to this beautiful image,
i think (for me) it is more beautiful without a lined frame,

Hi Art,
He has his eyes on you:).Amazed u had time to change lenses too.. Geez never have such luck..
Great capture!!

Best regards,
Jane

How lucky you were to come across this fellow and that he stayed put. We are always on the lookout for owls but rarely find one. I love the detail in his feathers and the super pose. It is rare to find a bird without a lot of twigs and leaves in the line of sight.
