[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
hello friends, yesterday at the end of the afternoon
i met another time that Eastern Cottontail (2 post ago),
but he was less collaborating as the last time

this photo was shot just at the border of the wood
and the open land, he was inside the wood,
in the bushes with a very bad light

and my yesterdays goal was to do tests of my new camera
with shooting at higher ISO, in this image i was at ISO400

well, from a d-compact camera i can not expect the same
results as a d-SLR camera, so here i am very happy
with the result even if we can see some noise

and again i am enjoying the OPTICAL IMAGE STABILIZER,
here i shot at 1/30s Shutter Speed, and there is no
the blur of the camera or hand movement

from New Hampshire Public Television website
here is some notes on the Eastern Cottontail :

http://www.nhptv.org/natureworks/easterncottontail.htm

« Habitat

The eastern cottontail prefers habitats that are
between woody areas and open land. It can be found
in bushy areas, fields, woodlands, swamps and thickets. »

Merci

Asbed

Hi Asbed,
A splendid portrait shot of this cute cottontail with great details my friend.TFS.
Cheers,

Bayram

I played with it a bit for a workshop, but I could not remove noise...interesting. I wonder if you have it blown up and cropped quite a bit? If it didn't have any noise it would be too soft. Some newspapers I used to work for liked grain. That is film equivalent of noise..and so they had me shoot Tri-x at 3600ASA...and develop in high temps which cause grain. It worked better and sharp for printing in the newspaper...and I think, in a round about way , if there is nothing you can do at 400, then learn how to use it to your advantage!

Ciao Asbed,

Jolie capture, merci!

Hello Asbed,
I think that for a compact this is an excellent result with ISO 400 and it is obvious that the IS works well at 30th sec.
Though rather grainy, it is a nice capture of an Eastern Cottontail caught in a fine pose in good lighting. The graininess, that doesn't quite look like noise, is the main negative feature.
TFS,
Ivan
