Boo!
Snowy Owl
Nyctea scandiaca

Taken at the Ecomuseum.

The Snowy Owl was first classified in 1758 by Carolus Linnaeus, the Swedish naturalist who developed binomial nomenclature to classify and organise plants and animals. The name "scandiaca" is a Latinised word referring to Scandinavia, as the Owl was first observed in the northern parts of Europe. Some other names for the Snowy Owl are Snow Owl, Arctic Owl, Great White Owl, Ghost Owl, Ermine Owl, Tundra Ghost, Ookpik, Scandinavian Nightbird, White Terror of the North, and Highland Tundra Owl. It is the official bird of Quebec.

I dont know what you do with all the creatures in your photos that look just taken out of the washing machine, so imaculate and healthy. This is a nice shot, but the best of course the expression captured, great work. Thanks Luc.

It took me a while to figure out what was going on with its beak. It is a very funny POV. If it were to start talking, I would expect it to have a very nasal voice. Very interesting shot, Luc, with sharp details and excellent exposure. And thanks for telling me that it is the official bird of Quebec. TFS. : )

Hello Luc,

This is a striking image. It's a great portrait and it's really well exposed (it's so difficult to expose white birds propperly!)! The eyes are fantastic, POV & DOF are great and details are sharp. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

Salut
