[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi Folks , it has been a while since my last upload , I have been a rather quite member of late , stopping in now and then to view pictures but not much else :-/

I thought that today I would make a small contribution and put up one that I shot this afternoon... out for a short walk I was happy to find that the small pond across from my home was teaming with dragonflies this year , mostly Darners but some Meadowhawks too.

I found myself lucky enough to sit right by one of this Meadowhawks favored perches , it took flight and returned to this failing clover several times , giving me a few try's , this was my favorite , and now the wallpaper on my laptop :-)

there is not really much to say about a dragonfly that has not been said before on this site , so I will pass on any scientific type of note on this one , and just say that my favorite things about the dragonflies is that they do a great job of clearing out the mosquitoes :-) , with so many of them at the pond I never received so much as a single bite this afternoon :-)... I also like the challenge of trying to get close to these keen eyed insects, and find nice angles to try to photograph them , there large size also makes me work at controlling my depth of field better...

for any of the Canadian members that happen across my post I would mention that it is the last week to make an entry in to the Canadian Geographic magazines photo contest (well one of them anyways) , I have my ten entries ready , it would be cool to know some of the great photographers here are also making some entries too :-)

thanks for stopping on my post , hope you like the pic...

regards
Art

Hi Art... :)

I like the POV you have here. Clarity of detail is wonderful too. Perhaps just a bit oversatured in the reds and greens but that may just be me.

Welcome back!

Larry

Wonderful capture with excellent POV,BG ,sharpness, colors and composition. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Art,

Very interesting POV. It's great the way you can see that dragonfly's body through his wing. Not all of the wings are in focus, but that's hard with dragonflies. The colour saturation seems to be a bit too severe in green and yellow. The red looks a bit too much also. Good details on the dragonfly though. And, I particularly like the POV. TFS.

Regards,
John
