Hi Folks , today I have this Meadowhawk Dragonfly , I am not too sure on which kind exactly , I do enjoy taking the photos , but finding names is sometimes not my thing... I think it may be called a saffron-winged meadowhawk , due to the orange coloration at the base of its wings , that does not show too great in this back lit image.

this photo has little for pp work , no cropping , but some shadows recovery in RAW conversion , I really enjoy that about shooting in raw , it seems to let me get the image to look more like what I seen than what the camera is able to capture. my main PP work was done in photoshop elements but my software lists Capture NX , that is because I prefer to resize the image in Capture NX especially when it is such a drastic resize , I think that Cpature NX has one of the best resizing filters of the software's that I use.

one thing that I would sure like to see in the future is for printing shops and frame makers to start making a large format print size that is suited to a DSLR sensor's 2:3 aspect ratio , it seems to not really make much sense that the only 2:3 image is a 4x6 photo , kind of seems like a waste for this 12.3MP image to be printed as a 4x6, of coarse I always try to remember to take a shot from a bit farther back so I can crop it for a 14x11 inch print , but sometimes the photo that I did get in close for is the one I like best... I guess I will just stick this one in a Matt :-)

regards
Art

Hi Art!

The image is wonderful, I disagree about the backlight: I like it in this shot, gives a nice effect to the leaf and the wings.
You know, inside I smiled a bit about your problem.. although I really understand you but I only wish I had 12MP to waste :) (I have only 6). To be serious on some pictures you could use some stylish frame to reach the needed ratio.
Anyway, a really nice job, TFS!

Best regards,
Andor

Great eye, on the bug that is. Ha ha your eye is ok too. When you fill the frame you are doing your comp in camera and using all your pixels and then you go to print and no 8 x 12 s@*$. Drop me a note @ etheroux@shaw.ca and i will give you a few places that process 8/12,12/18,16/24,and 24/36. Had this lens for the last 2 weeks (borrowed) and have a few questions. Hope we talk soon. Again i love the eye.
