[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi Folks , today I have this spider to share , I hope you will forgive the very general ID I have, but spider is about all of the information I have for this subject.

:-(

as I have mentioned before my patience for photography is much greater than my patience for searching for Identifications....

I found this little beauty on my walk through the woods yesterday , light was not in my favor , driving up ISO sensitivity and playing havoc on many of my photos.

When I came across this little Girl (guessing on that by size , never really got a good look at the pedi palps to feel certain ;-) , I saw a great lighting opportunity , though light was rather low it was sitting under this leaf somewhat back light , and getting a good angle on it saw a nice distant background that would blur nicely , its translucence was just soaking in the light giving this highlighted appearance.

my PP work on this was a bit more extensive than usual , mostly centered on noise removal , I did that in Capture NX first then saved as 8 bit tiff and moved over to photoshop Elements for a second noise removal , and some spot healing too , my d-80 shows a bit of dust on the sensor , but I had to pay more attention to hot pixels , there are a few of them at 800 ISO... , I also used an auto contrast , then re-saved as tif and moved back to Capture NX for a final noise removal and a bit of sharpening / resizing...

the D-80 is just not quite the same performer at higher ISO as the D-300 , is...

I could have used a flash and lowered my ISO , but that would have relieved the nice lighting situation , and I have been very stubborn this year about paying attention to shooting natural light , lighting is my main focus this year , and I would not learn much if I put that aside at every difficult shot :-)

regards
Art

Hello Art,
A great shot showing this Spider hanging on to the leaf. Fine details and I like the light and the colours. Most of all I like the composition!
TFS and regards, Ulla
