ClubTail

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Hi Folks , today I have this clubtail dragonfly to share , it is also called a pale snaketail. very seldom do I get a chance to photograph this particular type of dragonfly while it is resting on anything other than the ground, judging by its grasping of this twig I would think it is plain to see why it prefers to rest on the ground , it is a large dragonfly that lands in a horizontal perching position and with its long and heavier tail I would guess that it is simply more comfortable on the ground...
sometimes the clubtails are quite difficult to get very close to , then again sometimes it is as though they do not see me at all , this was a very still subject and gave me a few tries , well at least till I noticed I was crouching in a nest of giant wood ants and that they where crawling up my legs :-/ I can say without a doubt that jumping up and yelling "ARRRRGH!!!" scares the clubtail dragonfly away :-D LOL....

I like this shot Art. It doesn't scare me off like most insect pictures do. You captured it nicely. I love the clarity and the DOF looks good too. TFS Trevor
