hello friends, in my previous posting it was
the American Woodcock adult that is superbly
camouflaged with his environment,
my today's posting it is the American Woodcock
chick that with his pose it is mimicking
the colours of the environment

this photo was done at a woodcock chick
banding activity, i was with a friend that
has a permit for woodcock chick banding

once this woodcock chick was banded
my friend leaved in the ground, and the
first thing the woodcock chick did, it is
to go in the branches and do mimetism

from All About Birds website :

http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/American_Woodcock/lifehistory

« The male American Woodcock gives no parental care,
but continues to display long after most females have
laid eggs. Some males display at several, widely separated
singing grounds and will mate with several females.
A female may visit four or more singing grounds
before nesting, and she may keep visiting even
when she is caring for her young. »

Merci

Asbed

Hi Asbed
Great POV showing the hidden chick...Excellent detail with the OOF branch giving much to the effect of the bird thinking it is hidden...TFS
Jim

Hello Asbed,
A fine capture of a Woodcock chick relying on camouflage for its survival. The front part of the chick is portayed with fine sharpness and colours in its busy environment.
Thanks for this and the fine note,
All the best,
Ivan

bonjour Asbed

Pierre

Indiscreta toma e interesante. Eres buen observador de la naturaleza.
