In the corner of windows wooden frame, was a spider web. I used the flash and after I saw the body of a dead bald facet hornet hanging and some pieces of insects.

Baldfaced Hornet
Family Vespidae -- hornets, paper wasps, potter wasps, yellowjackets
Species: Dolichovespula maculata (Linnaeus) -- baldfaced hornet
Baldfaced hornets are long, black with white markings on the head, thorax, and the last few segments of the abdomen (male with white on the first abdominal segment). Wings are smoky.
They usually build exposed, grey nests in trees or shrubs. Occasionally, they will build
nests under roof overhangs, in attics, crawlspaces and wall voids, or under decks or porches.
The nests are constructed of a paper-like material formed from chewed wood, and may
may exceed a basketball in size. These hornets are extremely quick-moving and wary. Adults are common on flowers where they drink nectar. Adults feed pre-chewed insects to larvae .

A nice shot.
Excellent detail, especially the skin texture and that fearsome looking sting!
Very good work,well done.

Beautiful pic, besides the good detail and texture, it has a deep feeling this image. Thanks.

Well seen and thanks a lot for posting this great capture Ziggy and what a nasty looking sting it has. wonderful details and colours - excellent job. Thanks for the note too.

very nice, wicked looking sting showing there, a few details about the beast would be nice, as a lot of us never see this side of the wasp family.
Great improvement to the notes, the white colouration is unusual in wasp and hornets so it was nice to learn about it as I thought the colour seen was faded due to having spent time in the web. Again thank you.
