Rhinocerous Butt

Call this a "near miss" if you want to, but I took it this way on purpose. My wife and I were at the African Lion Safari near Cambridge, Ontario last month, and my Tamron lens was broken (it died on the first day on a 21 day vacation). I was borrowing my wife's Canon 75-300mm lens. With the Canon 10D's 1.6 multiplier built into the camera, it made it about a 120-480mm lens. It was great for faraway shots, but made close-ups very difficult (I had to stand 4-5 feet away to take macros of flowers).
We were in the rhinoceros paddock (in a tour bus so we could both have our hands free for picture taking), when one of the rhinos got in front of the bus and decided he was going to make us sit for a while. This was the only view he was showing us at the moment, so I decided to take full advantage. I zoomed all the way into 300mm and fired away.
Here's a more complete view.
I cropped it slightly, adjusted the levels in Photoshop, then sharpened the image, resized it, and saved and uploaded it. |

Hilarious post, Michael, if a bit disgusting! Great capture of all the subtleties of a rhino's butt. I never thought I would have this closeup view. Thanks!

It takes some guts Michael, oui ça prend du courage et du cran pour présenter une telle photo. TFS.
