Not too long ago, I posted a pair of Sandhill Cranes in a closed composition, meaning, the pair were overlapping each other as though as one.

This is a single Sandhill Crane from the same three that I captured in a series of shots. This one was about 30 yards away.

20D with the Canon 100-300mm zoom

In photoshop elements, crop, resize for web, very slight Bright/contrast, USM, frames and my name.

I'll be taking a break in posting images, my back is not up to par, I'm experiencing alot of pain. I'll just do the visit thing for abit.

Mike

Beautiful crane photo Mike.

The red eye is really something isn't it?

You can remove that in pp! :-)

An excellent composition, great details, lighting and POV.

Well done, and thank you for sharing it.

I hope your back mends soon, not much fun when you are in pain 24/7. (from experience)

Beautiful natural shot - very clear and colorful. Fantastic composition and great details. Superb colors. Well done & TFS!

Very nice picture, Mike.
Well compsed, nice colours and good POV.
You did a very good job.

Sorry to hear that you back hurts you, may you carry to much equipment, my friend.;-))
Get well soon.

Hi Mike, good shot. I like the pose and it's an interesting looking bird. I think it could do with a little bit here and there. I've done a WS for you, I hope you don't mind and I hope you like it.

Hi Mike.Sorry to hear about your back.Hope it comes right.
Very nice shot of an unusual bird.I think Pauls worshop brings out the detail and colour nicely too.
Hope it wont be too long before you post again.
Cheers, Steve.

Goo dshot Mike.
Good detail and great POV. Nicely exposed. Nicely composed. Nicely framed & Well captured, thanks for posting.

Hi Mike. Good image shot at fairly long distance. I think Paul's workshop addresses the few small shortcomings. Are these birds rare or endangered? The numbers of a few of the African crane species are very low due to habitat reduction so I was just wondering. Hope your back comes right soon, I suffer a similar affliction so sympathise. Kind regards, Rob

Hi Mike,
Wonderful capture. My only nit is that there is not enough contrast between the bird and the background but Paul's WS addresses that well. Great focus, what a magnificent bird.

You're too young to have such a bad back problem, is this what happens to 42 year olds?
I hope you're back in the saddle soon!

Your southern friend,

Alli

Hoi Mike,
the composition is nice, what is a shame is that the beak just falling into dof, and then I mean for the composition, the dof is great and the frame is fantastic, also a good job you did.

Hi Mike. One of my favorite birds. I love your sandhill cranes. The posture on this one is wonderful, and so are the colors. I hope your backache lets up soon. Sending you good vibes. TFS. : )

Hi Mike, hope you get back to par soon, this one is lovely: sharp with great BG and nice composition.

Hello Mike

Nice shot. The red on the head is very unusual, esecially the shape of the area. Good light and details. Take care of yourself Mike. Look forward to more of your work when you have recuperated.

Hi Mike!

I hope you'll be ok soon!
Crane looks very good on your photo. BG isn't maybe best but I like bird's pose and red spot on its head. I bet it wasn't easy shot to take!

Hi Mike, I have no time to write a decent comment. I give to you the well deserved smily.

Hello Mike,

Congratulations with your 5000 points. That is realy something.
Even the bird got a red face of all the excitement.
Good picture. Specially the head is typical with that red colour.

Thanks,

Hendrik

Hi Mike! Sorry about your back!!!!!!!!!! Love these sandhill crane pix, you are so lucky to have them returning each year. Looks like you were making this one nervous, he had his eye on you, for sure! Good crop as you draw my eye down to his eye! Take care, Linda
