Hello friends, with this photo
of the American Woodcock in-flight
i want to come to wish you a :

Happy New Year 2012

This photo's sharpness is not top,
but you have to see with wish kind
camera was used to this photo, a very
small point & shoot that i can not decide
the aperture shutter speed etc... So friends
in you critique take this in consideration

The moment i shot this photo for me
it was the greatest time i lived
photographing bird in-flight in 2011

Ranger my pointing dog was in the wood
pointing this American Woodcock and i was
outside the wood in the track when the
Woodcock took his flight and he came
directly on me, he passe few feet from me.
It is the only good photo i could do, i have
2 other shots of him completely blurred.

I want also to tell you friends that
i finally have my new camera, a DSLR !
Nikon D5100 with the lens
Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2,8 XR Di II LD ASL [IF]

In 35mm equiv. it is only 26-75mm, too short
for bird and wildlife photography, but soon
from February to May 2012 i will take a 65
hours photography course in a college
specialized in photography, that lens will
be more useful for me now than a wildlife
zoom lens, i wish in 6 - 8 or 10 months the
wildlife zoom lens will also come.

The lens that i have now
Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2,8
it has a constant F2.8
in all focal lengths !

I did test photos photographing
Ranger my pointing dog and love it.

Friends my new camera equipment
i will not use it in very cold days
(minus 10 Celcius and +) like i did
with my bridge camera.

To see new photos with my new
equipment will take some time.

Merci

Asbed

Hello Asbed,
I like the frontal POV and the Woodcock is well seen against the blurred dense birch tree BG. Great lighting, colours and composition.
A Happy 2012 to you too!

Ciao Asbed, great in-flight capture, fantastic panning, splendid light and wonderful natural colors, very well done, my friend, Happy New Year 2012, ciao Silvio

Bonjour Asbed,

Le flou des ailes indiqye le mouvement. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs de la bécasse d'Amérique en vol. La bonne luminosité rehausse les couleurs de l'image. Bonne Année 2012.

Pierre

Hello Asbed,
It is the moment that counts for the photographer my friend. As you mentioned the sharpness is not there but anyone can clearly distinguish the Woodcock against the BG of the woods. Congratulations with the new toy.
Best regards,
Carl

Hello Asbed,
You did a wonderful job on this shot even though, as you say, the sharpness is not perfect. The Woodcock is easily seen, even his long bill is very distinguishable. This would be a hard shot since it is moving towards you, and at a fast rate of speed.
Glad you got your new camera, can't wait to see how it preforms. "Happy New Year"
Ron

Hi Asbed.
I am very glad that you have purchasing new wonderful DSLR camera. Now you really must save money for telelens. Shared shot demonstrate your potential as a bird in-flight shooter. Wonderful captured scene. My best regards and TFS.
