Great Blue Heron
From birth to two years, Great Blue Herons moult, or replace old feathers with new, four times. During the first year, juveniles have grey crowns and grey wings flecked with brown, and they lack plumes. Adult Great Blue Herons show brighter colours during the breeding season, moult some plumes in summer, and change to duller colours in winter.

Herons can live for 18 years in the wild but most adults probably live for about 10 years.
Both the male and the female shares nurturing duties : incubate the eggs and feed the young.

GOOD PICTURE OF THE HERON!

Exposure and focus are excellent. The beautiful DOF help to concentrate on the subject. The composiiton is beautifully balanced in a square format.
