I Like This Bird II

Hooded Merganser (male)
Lophodites cucullatus

The smallest of our mergansers, Hoodeds are most often seen along rivers and in estuaries during the fall and winter. They are usually found in pairs or in flocks of up to a dozen; when startled, they are among the fastest-flying of our ducks. Males perform a beautiful courtship display and, once mated, swim energetically around the female in further ritual displays. Hoodeds feed chiefly on small fish, which they pursue in long, rapid, underwater dives, but also take small frogs, newts, tadpoles, and aquatic insects.

Photographed in a controlled environment at Biodôme of Montreal. Poor light. I took tons of photos to get two presentable.
Thank you for looking.

Hi Luc,
Beautiful little bird! I can see why you like it...;-)
Excellent composition!
Thanks,
Dave

Salut Luc,

Amicalement, Christian

Well earned smile now, critique later :-)

Very nice capture of this beautiful bird, once again this is one of my favorite species of the anseriformes. The light on the water is spectacular and makes this image really stand out. :)

Very good colours, composition, POV and detail.

Well done

Wow... this is fantastic Luc. Nicely composed, crisp, clear sharp details. I love the colour of the water. Stunning! Thanks.

A different type of shot. I like the space into which it looks. The eye makes the pic alive. Good POF & DOF. TFS

Salut Luc!

Hi Luc,
this is a beautiful bird with lovely colours.
Good low POV and well composed.
Very well done, MYB&OF

I believe that in your ability and repertoire of beautiful images, you bring us the most unique and skillfully mastered photos, of any on TN.

In this instance, here is a wonderful duck...

As I look at it however, my eye is constantly drawn away from it, and into the pool of such phosphorescence, blending into liquid gold, that anyone can imagine.

It is mesmerizing to say the least, but not so good for the viewing of the poor duck, which makes me giggle, for now I am thinking that maybe this duck will get radiation poisoning as a result of contact with it...

And herein lies the treasure of your photos Luc, they speak to us, telling us stories, filling our heads with questions, fairy tales and wonderment.

For all of this, and the duck, I thank you!

Love the color the and texture of the water. Nice compo with subject placement. Well done, Luc.

Hi Luc,
I'm still very busy, so have no time for a longer visit to TN.
Very good capture, as always from the hands and eyes of Luc.
Thanks for posting, have a great week.
