Marmot in the Yukon
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
In front of the Yukon river in Whitehorse, there is the old Klondyke paddle steamer that I was intent on photographing. This cheeky chappy kept distracting me and posing so I obliged him.
Another sneak and zoom picture, that needed a little sharpening and cropping. Shame you cant see his little tail. |

Wow! Great shot! Perhaps just a bit too centered compositionally, but beautifully sharp and detailed. He is a lovely fellow, isn't he! I have seen all sorts of Marmots, Woodchucks and Groundhogs, but I have never seen one with speckles like that. Made me doubt your ID enough to look it up, but my field manual didn't show anything quite like him. That's ok though, the manual doesn't show our Vancouver Island Marmot either -- one of the most highly endangered species in existence -- only 12 breeding pairs in the wild about 10 years ago, but on the increase now due to human intervention. Is yours an Arctic sub-species? ;o)

Une très belle composition,la netteté est excellente et l'éclairage fait bien ressortir les détails du spécimen.
Félicitations et merci Paul
