I went again this morning to take a couple shots again (40 actually :-). The sun was brighter and the snowy owl was still there... looking really sleepy now while yawning AHHHHHHHHH!!!

Just try to look at this picture without yawning...

This snowy owl is currently giving an opportunity to be seen, not it is actually natural habitat like we would love to, but on it's own he is standing there next by a road in a field in St-Bruno-de-Montarville.

If you stay around Montreal, take the highway 30 and exit at Clairevue. If coming from Boucherville, then after the exit turn right at the stop and less than 100 meters from there at the curve, the owl is standing in the field next by the road on the left hand side. If coming from Brossard you will have to go over the 30 on the overpass and turn right at the stop than continue until the little curve. Anyway you can't miss it because there is a constant procession of people coming to visit the snowy owl.

This snowy owl is been around for a week and is suspected to have something wrong (maybe a broken wing). I've heard that the Faculty of Veterinary Medecine of the University of Montreal is suppose to come and get him soon.

So take your chance to go and see the show... and don't forget your camera and lenses !!!

Hopefully you'll get there before he leaves...
The owl has moved further in the field this afternoon and even with a 800mm you could not get a close shot as this :-(

I hope some of you had a chance to see it...

I have been confirmed that it is a male.

Here is another pic of this sleepy snowy owl

Ah my god.

Wow Stephan
great macro here, and the colors so perfect and your note too
regards

Salut Stéphan!

Voici le Harfand qui fait tant parler de lui ces jours-ci sur le forum de Ornitho.qc. Il n'avait pas encore quitté ce matin, d'après ce que j'ai lu. Il semble aimer les foules.
Merci.
