* Info on Red Fox *

Next time I'll go there I'll bring a pad and a pencil for to write down all my deep thoughts on the life and the destiny... ;-)

When I arrived at the den at 7:00 this morning, Lucy left for hunting. She came back at 8:45, remained 15 minutes with her babies, then she left for hunting again. I left at 11:00. One thing I remember: when Lucy goes away, babies dont go back in the den immediately. Thus I could photograph them without the presence of their mother... during another 15 minutes. So I would nevertheless have had much time to write some thoughts and aphorisms...

This photo is not the last of the series. Many more to come. But I must tell you something: feel free to critic/comment or not on them. That is equal for me. If your heart inspires some emotion to you, do not feel obliged to write it to me. I just need to share photos and infos with you. Some days ago, sailing among the photographs which I posted on TN, I noticed that this photo was seen more than 7,000 times. With some excellent comments I received, this is my true wages. The majority of my friends here know that I do not like to write critiques/comments only to turn over the elevator. Since my childhood I always had scorn for the social conventions. I look at them passing but I do not adopt them. I know that it is pleasant and necessary at the beginning to receive some witty remarks from time to time. But I also know that it is not because we do not receive heaps of critiques/comments on our photographs that these photographs are not good. Personnaly, with time, I have learned what can be a good photograph of Nature. Callie de Wet was my mentor at my arrival on TN. Only by reading his notes, critiques/comment and words in forum I learned the essence of what I know today. And his words are always valid. If you have time, sail in his always limpid water on this site. You will find there jewels of usefull information.

I think that this note is long enouph. Thank you to have read it until the end.

Thank you also for looking at the photo. I wish that it bring as much happiness to you than I tested while taking it.

Hi Luc,
this is a very nice and cute picture of a curious young fox.
Nice colours and good details
I like the composed and good POV too.
A very good note too, and I missed Callie too, I hope he read this.
Beautiful work, my old friend and young brother

Still a lot of snow and cold nights.
The snow is melting very slowly.

Hi Luc
If I did not learn from your notes that this little cub was eating a frog I could easily think it was snarling at you, but then again, if you or I had to 'eat a frog' we would probably look very much the same.
You have captured the moment very well. All the technical details were taken care of in a magnificent way.
Your reference to Callie just reflects on your great character. The apprentice is never greater than his master, although with time the apprentice can become a master himself his true character shows when he refers back to his master and remembers where he comes from.
Great stuff and TFS.
Regards
Loot

He looks bitter and angry with your presence. Great shot with nice warm colors.

Scott

My, they grow fast!
To me, he looks like a little fellow trying to assert himself in your presence, in the absence of his mother. He learns fast.
Ce petit debrouillard is going to make it. : )
I, for one, will be very interested in your musings.
TFS, mon ami. : )

Luc, I read to the end - do I get a double tick for that? :)
Callie was one who wanted to help us, who wanted to pass on his knowledge to us. He was always honest. And I missed him.
You have picked up his baton and in how you show us photos of your amimal friends that show your heart and your love for them. And that is what I come and look at your photos for Luc, my friend.
Sweet baby is growing, but she's still got some blue in her eyes. I want to see more of them...
Kia ora mon ami,
Janice

Hi Luc,
I like the fine lighting of the face, that really brings out the expression very well!
A well balanced composition with good DOF, a very pleasant image!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Good to see you're still taking fantastic photos Luc.
This fox has a very ferocious look, although I know its only chewing.
Great work.

Hi Luc,

You add so much to a photo by writing a note that really matters. Besides that: All your photo's of foxes tell a story.
I really appreciate the way you fill in your "role" on TN.
Thanks for your wonderful serie of the red fox.

regards,

Zeno.

A super shot.
Incredible light on the eye of the cub.
True colors and nice composition.
Andrea

Luc bonjour, vous avez creusé un terrier à coté de celui des renards !! Encore magnifique cette photo. Félicitations, Didier.

Hi Luc

Sorry, short on time this morning. In a rush, but wanted to pay a quick visit and give a well deserved big green smiley for a job well done! :-)

This is another wonderful capture in your series Luc.
I read some of your notes and it is clear..
You are not simply one who takes a picture, but a student of nature. It's when we take the time to know our subject intimately, that the transformation occurs :)

the series is muy bonita ............ it is difficut to get that close to a wild fox and still get the exposure and focus correct............. well done !

I had to do a double take on this one, as I thought he was simply attempting to excercise his assertiveness with you, however, then discovered his meal choice...

Wonderful POV, colors, timing, and moment (not so much for the frog :-(

Thank you again!

Hi Luc, I am absolutely fascinated by this series you have on the foxes in the wild.

I have said on many previous occasions: "Nature never betrays those who truely love her." It is moments like these that makes all of it worth while. Treasure this... I surely will and may this opportunity befall you more often, MF.
