[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

I find it very hard to do some good close-up photography. I'm trying to improve my images by looking and reading about the wonderful macrophotos I see here on TN. I would like to know your opinion about this one. I tried to have a better DOF and I used a tripod and a remote switch. Let me know what you think!

Thanks for comments.

SPREADWINGS (Lestidae)

The Spreadwings are larger damselflies, typically blue or green/bronze as an adult. Unlike other Damsels, the Spreadwings hold their wings partially open when at rest. The larva of most species have a one year life cycle and the nymphs are “stalkers” in submerged vegetation and therefore of value to anglers for fly patterns (as are the Darners). While there are two genera of Spreadwings in North America, only the Marsh Spreadwings (Lestes) are common and widespread, while there are only two species of the second genus (Archilestes) north of Mexico. Archilestes is interesting because the females oviposit in trees.

Mon avis est bon, cette macro est réussie. La jolie Libellule est nette et ressort bien sur le fond neutre et doux. Compliments Hélène.

Great macro shot Helene. Great sharpness, details, clarity and nice colours. Great POV and composition too. Thanks for sharing.

Hi helene,

Well done on this one,the most important is to use tripod,If you use a fillflash you probably can close a bit more, the light is a bit harder but since I started to use my flash with the macro's I think I get better results,I would say give it a try,

Paul

Hello Helene, this is a very nice composition, it's very simple and pleasing. The lighting looks good and very good subject and pose. Well done.

*I've turned off my points, I cannot recieve and I cannot give. I'm sorry for the latter*

Nice capture Helene,
The details are nice, clear and sharp.
Good colours, lighting and exposure. DOF is spot on and the POV is good.
Well composed and nicely framed.
Thanks for posting, have a great week

Hello Helene,
Very good DOF, sharp detail, and nice color.
Well seen from the clean OOF BG as well.
It's good that you used tripod and remote, it helps greatly to reduce vibrations that can cause blur. I also use mirror lock, when I go below say 1/125th second..The camera's shutter slap actually does have a noticeable effect, at slow s-speeds..
Very well done.

Bonjour Helene,
excellent close up, this damsel looks really great against the neutral background. The details are nice and sharp and the colors very natural. Very nice composition.
