The Raven: a profile
Corvus corax

Geography - Range: Resident in North America from Alaska and Canada south through western United States to Baja California and Nicaragua. Found along the eastern United States from Canada to northern Georgia.
Description: The largest member of the Crow Family, ravens average 24 inches tall, with a wingspan of 46-56 inches. Their coloration is all-black with a metallic shine of purple or violet that is noticeable in certain lighting conditions. The bill is large and stout. In flight, the tail appears wedge-shaped, which distinguishes it from crows.

This is not a black and white picture, even if it has the apearence of it.

This is a fine portrait that the thumbnail does not do it justice. I tried adjusting some levels to get the background (snow?) more white, though I hope it does not alter the image too much for you. I'll post it in a workshop

I like ravens and you captured this one perfectly. Great portrait, sharp and detailed. Black eye of black bird looks superb.

Who is that kock knock knocking? One of the great poems in the American literature - The Rave, by Edgar Allen Poe, him of the macabre imagination!
This birb fits his sinister description well, Luc. Good details here! Love the way his hairdo is standing all raised!

These are some of the best exposed blacks that I have ever seen! The sharpness here is stunning and I like this prtrait a lot.
